Because I’m bored and have nothing better to do with myself, I broke down exactly how #TheGameAwards ~3 hour run time was allocated:
Winner’s speeches: 10 min
Musical numbers 13.5 min
Award presenters: 26.5 min
Other presenters: 42.5 min
Trailers/ads: 1 hr 28 min

To be fair… does anyone care at all about the award part of the show? It kinda sucks that this is the “E3” we are stuck with for the moment, but E3 was always more interesting than whoever random people decided was the best game or streamer or preorder bonus of the year.

E3, also, has never been interesting

The only reason this stuff has ever been interesting is watching uncharismatic industry and press types try to speak to a complicated audience that is part investors, consumers, press, never directly tending to the expectations or taste of any particular one but looking past all of them to some howling and decrepit imago that exists only in the front rows between panning shots

Not really, but it occasionally does a thing like show us a new From game or that The Last Guardian still actually exists. I care more about that than meaningless awards, I say ditch them entirely.

Kentia Hall man.

I’d take esports more seriously if they weren’t all the types of cishet dude that they are
