Anarchy in the Splatlands (the thread formerly known as The Splatoon 2 Thread)

Team invisibility seems to be doing pretty abysmally judging by the few matches I played today.

No, sorry

The Japan splatfest is going to be Mcdonalds Fries vs Nugz.

I expect McD Japan to ses an uptake of .001% in sales.

The Off the Hook singers sort of resemble their in-game counterparts at least hairstyle-wise

Anyone still playing this? I’ve sunk 160+ hours into it so far, which is a lot for me! But yeah, still really enjoying it. I hit S+ in each of the original modes a while back, and haven’t ranked down since!

I’ve only had a few chances to play clam blitz, but I’m really loving it so far. It might even be my favourite mode. At first I thought it was too similar to rainmaker, but it becomes really interesting once people start passing clams to each other in the higher ranks. I also really enjoy playing defence, perhaps more so than other modes. In terms of teamwork, positioning, overcoming stalemates, and so on, it definitely feels very sport-like (I actually think Tim Rogers/videoball people would be really into it). Maybe the only issue is that, in my experience, last-minute comebacks aren’t really possible once the other team has gained a significant lead, which is something you don’t really have in the other modes.

I was thinking recently about why Western audiences haven’t warmed to Splatoon, especially since the Switch is so popular. I feel like it deserves a lot more love, though maybe it’s just perfectly catered to my tastes/preferences!

i love it very much. i wish it was significantly easier to group up and voice chat through the game, i would be able to talk a bunch more people into playing

So 3.0 update coming with new ranks and maps along with the first (mostly?) single player DLC.

i’m buying that dlc though so i guess i’m gonna be playing more soon

Interested in playing more of this with the selectbutton squid squad

yay hmu when you’re down!

same here

It’s currently some sort of US+EU splatfest. I’m on team Donnie / Purple / Marina’s team.

The Octo Expansion is out and it’s all kinds of little microchallenge levels. Also you can play as an octopus in the online now, once you beat the DLC.

The Octo Expansion is really really good! It’s like they applied the design of BotW shrines to Splatoon. It’s a bunch of engaging little mini-puzzles. The art direction & music is super good, and I think the story beats work too. Quite a nice little package, especially considering the original game’s single player did almost nothing for me.

Oh my god, the new Special they added is called the “Booyah Bomb”. It doesn’t stop though at being a visual homage

Once activated, charge it up faster by signaling “Booyah!” Teammates can also get a small bonus to their special meter with “Booyah!” rally cries of their own! Unleash it once it’s charged for a big inksplosion!

Always loved taunts having minor gameplay mechanics to them but this might be the best on I’ve ever seen.

So does this mean new sets? Feels weird to add a new special on it’s own. This sounds amazing though.

are people still playing this? dmauro and i play when we can, but we’d really like to know some more people we can link up with.

I play here and there but it’s mostly when Salmon Run is up (insert every argument about how Salmon Run is partitioned out here)

I would, but I don’t think I’d play it enough to justify getting the Nintendo Online subscription just yet

Same.

Also we are on the opposite side of the planet from everyone else AND each other.
