AGDQ '20: AGDQ 10 US

wow okay. I dont get GDQ apparently. They banned Trihex for an anti gay slur but let this POS in?
Huh?
(edit: not saying the slur was ok, but if its ban worthy so is being an ardent anti-feminist transphobe)

they seem to respond to stuff when it’s unavoidable that they would look bad, whereas stuff like this, there are plenty of people who will be like “actually you’re the fascist” (for wanting a ban) because it’s like “no, but the nazi was on good behavior, it wouldn’t be fair to ban him” etc.

this is what i assume, assuming that they are path-of-least-resistance centrists, which seems to be the vibe.

Twice! He apparently also did a final fantasy 9 run at a gdq last year

“We don’t want to bring politics into things,” say administrators of expanding media brand.
e: oh shit, he’s literally a fascist. jesus.

BTW, did that poor Terraria runner ever recover? He was so excited and got himself in such shit almost immediately.

cool that gdq has basically spent the last few years making the trans women at the event as invisible as possible and penalizing people like trihex, who actually apologized, so winners like the ff8 guy can show up unopposed

They fucked up handling that FF8 run, as it was originally rejected due to how it was submitted; one or more of the runners did not submit video evidence because it was presented as a relay and in the confusion some of the relay people were accepted and others were not. GDQ re-accepted them, but then others pointed out they didn’t do their work because Luzbelheim’s associations to misogyny and the far-right were pretty clearly laid out on their public Twitter profile. So presumably “decorum” and losing a 9+ hour run to anchor a long night were to blame for why they were kept.

Once again, GDQ’s official response was too little too late: submission requirements now require hiding your shitty behaviour publicly for at least 18 months before they’ll take a runner. This came into effect a couple weeks prior to this current event.

No, it was a glorious trainwreck because he remained charismatic and positive throughout attempts at getting it back on track to eventually trying to crowd-source how to spawn in the moon lord through server console commands.

Reminds me of this guy in the interactive fiction community who went by “maga” for literal decades before 2016 happened. Last time I checked in on the ifMUD, he was going by his middle name instead.
