the english narration for these things really does a great job of underscoring how stupid video games are

After letting it settle a little I’m not quite as excited about Fashion Dreamer. Based on the trailer it seems to be fully about runway+ interacting with other players online. This would bring it in line with similar mobile games that have been eating Girls Mode’s lunch for years now. Unfortunately the part of Girls Mode that really appealed to me were the adventure elements, and with the game world looking as abstract as it does in that trailer I don’t know if Fashion Dreamer’s going to have that.

I guess one bonus of focusing on ā€œstyleā€ vs ā€œoperating a boutiqueā€ is that Fashion Dreamer might not quite so heavily incentivize you to exactly hit a customer’s budget like past games. I can’t count the number of times I sold some poor dear a handbag with their outfit not because I thought they needed it, but because otherwise I’d just be leaving that money on the table.

so like is the new splatoon thing… just an alternate hub world ported over from splatoon 1, basically? that’s all i really got out of it. they even went out of their way to assure us the shops would hold the exact same stuff in both hubs

there must be more to it than that

yeah i was real bewildered too, thought for sure they were gonna say a campaign thing attached to it but instead that’s a separate thing?

I got the impression ā€œside orderā€/wave 2 was gonna be the dlc campaign thing a la Spl2oon’s octo expansion and yeah i don’t see the point of there being a new hub unless they’re stealthily adding new levels in that, or uh, bringing back more maps

We love katamari remaster of the decade whew

selfie mode in the katamari remake looks cool. it’ll also be awesome to be able to do the race car level not couch-co op. playing that fucking level is so chaotic and wild

I’m feeling pretty tempted to get back into Etrian Odyssey. I can’t imagine the mapping feeling anywhere near as satisfying as it did on the DS though. On Switch it might even be a chore. I guess it’s good they added auto-mapping, but even that would feel like a very enjoyable part of the game was scooped out.

I’m a huge Etrian Odyssey fan but I always felt the manual mapping wasn’t particularly key to the experience, so I don’t mind if it’s finally replaced by an automap. The core dungeon crawler and battle stuff stands on its own, and I found its most interesting innovation was the emphasis on optional midbosses.

My biggest regret is that it seems to be a direct port of the original DS EOs without the additional content in the 3DS ā€œuntoldā€ remakes. Especially in the EO2 remake, there was a new option of making progress in several different directions if you were blocked from going further upward. It had an optional underground dungeon, and it rewarded you with a chart of enemy weaknesses after beating a given type once: so you could struggle to beat your first FOE, and after that easily wipe all of the identical ones on that floor.

ā€œZelda is seventy dollarsā€

boy, that sounds bad, but I guess inflation is catching up with everyone

ā€œEO Collection is eighty dollars and individual games are fortyā€

lol. lmao.

Prime Remastered is $40

The push of automation has always been to define everyone who does not make or own the automation as unskilled. The absolute dogshit AI voice is not going to replace voice actors, but it absolutely will result in voice actors being hired to ā€œpunch upā€ the AI voices for a fraction of what they are getting paid now for doing at least as much work.
