There’s gotta be a pixel perfect mode in Tactics Ogre Reborn… like… are they just fucking with us?

i don’t want this to sound like i’m being an annoying nerd, but
(annoying nerd stuff)
Summary
stuff like this is kind of what made me dig my feet in even more with the whole “play games on original hardware if you can/demand more from rereleases” camp. like realistically i know there’s no momentum there amongst most game likers, but more and more i’m just sort of tired of the keeping the tacit capitalist agreement with companies we make when rebuying game we’ve already probably bought many times before when they no longer keep up their end of things.
like, in exchange for agreeing to play the games legally, the way the publisher would like me to*, i feel like there should be a baseline of quality with that experience. but as we get further and further from the origin point of a lot of these games, it feels like the preservation aspect gets less and less emphasized, at which point, what am i paying for, really? a version of the game that plays worse, with some unbalanced additions because more is better?
*as opposed to emulation, like we were doing before companies caught on to the idea they could make money off their old games
I have honest to goodness nostalgia for supereagle-era ZSNES and I think it should be a toggle in most shipping emulation the same way that CRT shaders should be a toggle and regular nearest neighbor/integer scaling should be a toggle
that said, I don’t really know who this is for, I’m not really invested in inaugurating a new generation of tactics ogre fans at this point, I just, whatever
Dying at “irrepairable damage” like yeah, THIS is the thing that tainted megaten forever.
Oh no! If I’d heard about this before it shut down I would’ve done a Preserving Worlds episode about it. I can’t believe Atlas skipped the usual cease and desist and just outright sued them, what dicks.
re: the remasters chat earlier am i really naive if i believe at some point there’ll be a fpga device that isn’t hard to get hold of, requires no piecing together and has really polished ux where you just put a usb stick full of games in and It Just Works
they gotta call it the GameMaster Anthony
Wonder how well that’ll run.
Huh, weird. The ps4 version runs well enough but i can’t imagine it running on switch without looking like a blobby, blurry mess.
Maybe if it sells well enough they’ll start translating and porting the older games (probably not though)
Hey ya’ll one of the best JRPGs of all time is out! The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero on Steam
My favorite weird gamedev fact is Imagine was developed by the vertical shooter company CAVE
So uh… Overwatch 2 is out next week…
Not that I need to remind anyone, I know we’re all excited
“you’re over Overwatch 2? I’m over Overwatch 2 too”
good news: magical drop 6 announced!
bad news: only for switch
hey, I’m excited
then again, I was in one of the 2 betas and immediately realized that game is good
playing Gundam Overwatch has also made the heart grow fonder for what it had…
mostly though, I’m sitting back and eating popcorn and sippin’ soda while people react to all the F2P stuff they’re implementing
The only good Overwatch games are TF2 and Paladins. This is my opinion.
Paladins was better in beta when it was a weird deck-building neutral point attack payload-pushing wall-busting game
