I’m gonna be honest, those writers seem like they would be hilariously, Slavically bad at resisting a hostile corporate takeover

like the second someone suggests that they should play ball for financial reasons they would be in full Dostoevsky agonizing mode and their mouths would spontaneously deliver insults

That’s why my barometer is so broken! I’m forever trapped in a 2nd edition mindset.

Honestly removing racial stat modifiers is such a good step in the direction that I want them to go that I’m interested in hearing the rest. At the very least you can just take that released part and use them in your games, today! And keep using those rules forever if you want.

The only thing that would really turn my opinion negative would be if they pulled some kind of ip rights shit to keep the new rules from being used in roll20 or something

Technically, I think? I keep forgetting about that actually.

it’s weird that the strongest halfling can be as strong as the strongest human… altho i’m not sure any of the strength ratings make sense when you start looking at monsters as well.

Trailer captures the burden of physical game storage in endless plastic boxes really well.

This isn’t going to stick just like it didn’t work when they did the exact same move during 4e. Does anyone remember Dungeons & Dragons Insider? I’m glad it’s fallen out of memory, even if it means that time repeats itself.

Hasbro/WotC have always tried to make D&D into a ā€˜live service’ game that just never worked the way they wanted it to.

why is sony like this. they swing so hard for such weird, feckless concepts. I almost admire it.

Amazon making a Disco Elysium show feels purposefully malicious

2e was where i spent most of my DnD time too. honestly though 4th kind of chased me away from it and I don’t think I’ll ever really go back any closer to actual dnd than Pathfinder

Same here. The last group I ran was Pathfinder, which was my only real experience with anything 3e-ish. I played in a 5e group for a bit and it wasn’t too bad but the rules as I gathered them felt really combat centric

I take that back. I did play d20 modern for a bit which was awful in all matters except the classic d&d trappings. Ranged combat was not fun.

with these developments the next disco elysium is going to be a disco inferno
