Alien: Isolation$
my longest yeah boy ever
Makes sense, capitalizes on nostalgia and collector value while not having a high quality home video release that is easily rippable for piracy makes sense as a path forward for a lot of media corporations.
My favorite thing about this entire franchise is in fact the action figures from the 90s (but only the xenomorphs I never gave a shit about the space Marines)
What a radical little collectable bestiary
Imho the movies need more Gorilla Aliens and Scorpion Aliens and shit
Bringing back vinyl but for a format that has always been objectively shitty is a pretty sad state of affairs. What we need are mass produced 35 mm projectors for personal use
for a while i think there were 8mm reels being produced for watching at homeā¦
The best physical format is still laser disc imo
I watched Romulus last night. Itās a good Alien Movie. Checks all the boxes for me. The Ian Holm animatronic was really well done and the movie itself looked really good. Iāll probably watch it again and then maybe never again. Or it will end up being one of my go to Alien movies. It just has all the stuff you want to see in one of these. Though I will say I donāt think they needed to shoehorn in so many references to the other movies. It was like they thought theyād never get a chance to make another Alien movie so they had to get all the references in there in this one. Which, hey, maybe thatās how it works in Hollywood. This creative team may not ever get to work on an Alien movie again if this one doesnāt turn over 1000% profit or whatever the expectation is.
I would watch another interstitial Alien story set between two of the previous movies but I canāt decide if I want to see one set between Aliens and Alien 3 or between Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection.
I still donāt know if Iām playing this ācorrectlyā but thereās a deep sense of satisfaction to things like hearing the group of guys walking down the stairs while youāre waiting for the train, hiding in a corner, popping out to throw a noisemaker so they all stop around it, and torching them all with a molotov
Iām on mission 10 and so far itās great. The big trapping the Alien sequence was better than the same setpiece in Alien 3. So tense.
Finally saw Romulus. Seems like the best Disney can do across the board now is total cynicism. Itās on par with a lesser Dark Horse comic (everything Iāve seen come out of Marvel with the property is considerably worse, so thereās that (Aliens vs. Avengers is a crossover penned by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Esad Ribic, I donāt think that counts)) but wouldnāt be acceptable as even a video game. Itās so uninterested in its own script or actual ideas it would rather defer to meaningless referencing bolstered by now industry standard deepfakes. And naturally theyāre looking to franchise it.
Still cautiously hopeful about the Noah Hawley show, but heās had a better track record with crime thrillers than anything else.
My Warrior Drone (with an instagib button that explodes everything above its waist) is fondly remembered
Or was that the scorpion one?? Hmmā¦
