and i don’t given a wooden nickel who disagrees with me
…Daph, don’t tell anyone…but…Paradise Killer
The forum put a death curse on my original post so im reposting it…
Flower, Sun and Rain: the game that taught me that games don’t have to be fun, sometimes it’s about vibes and mysteries and the antagonistic creator
Daikatana: But also sometimes it is actually about fun, design and the antagonistic creator
Darklands: I read The Name of the Rose because of this humble DOS historical RPG. Life long obsession with stupid medieval shit and games that require you to learn about a place starts here
Jagged Alliance 2: a gunfucker is you. The platonic ideal of small unit tactics that I compare every other strategy RPG to. Also it’s really funny in ways that probably rubbed off on me
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate: I played this for like 3 weeks straight when I got it because it is the perfect synthesis of weapon affixes action rpg nonsense and being ridiculously powerful and cool. It is still probably my second favorite game ever.
honorable mentions/alternate list: morrowind, resident evil 3/parasite eve 2, chrono cross and 25th ward
I’m not looking at my hold list but it’s probably still half the same.
God Hand
Ossu Tattake Ouendan 1/2/EBA (Freely exchange with Gitaroo-Man)
Megaman Legends 1/2
DMC3/5
R.A.D. (Robot Alchemic Drive)
Any of these 5 games will probably give you the clearest look into my soul and will give me a platform to keep a casual discussion going. Original Nier is next closest.
messing with the bread on my chronological game sandwich
Galaga (Arcade, 1981)
Earthbound (SNES, 1994)
Wave Race 64 (N64, 1996)
Shadow Tower (PSX, 1998)
OutRun 2 SP (Arcade, 2004)
Having previously renounced my original list I wish to reinstate it and stand by it, but I contain multitudes and I wish to proffer 5 more
Citizen Sleeper
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Odin Sphere
Slay the Spire
Quake
