As I have done in the past I like to take the warming/cooling weather (Hi Oz!) as a time to look at my shelf and have a public shame session on how many video games I have bought/obtained and mean to have a good time and just have not touched at all. This list was going to be a crime scene for me anyways so i limited mine to merely shit I can play on my PS3. It is horrible. Thankfully most of these are digital. Still does not make it right.

I had to take a break from yakzero. A game I was really enjoying just playing! Because in the back of my mind was a voice going get to the end and clear it off your pile. Which is terrible! Because I was having a fantastic time just playing it. Thinking or forcing it to end was pissing in my own soup. So i took a break to maybe knock something off that to play pile.

Then I made this list of that too play pile on my PS3. I should probably go to jail.

Uhh I don’t think you need to play most of these, let alone replay! At least most of em are pretty short games.

Actually though I’ve got the Xbox version of The Warriors along with a whole bunch of other Xbox games that I’m gonna try and beat in the next couple months, like Otogi and Ninja Gaiden Black… gulp

The warriors Game is great!

Otogi was too floppy for me to ever get into.

And i freaking hated Ninja Gaiden Black. So uhh…don’t worry if you hate it.

I don’t need to play Any video games. I want to play all of these. I bought them because I wanted to play them. I’m just outraged with myself that I have such a buffet and supply when half would be suitable for a teen with no job let alone a man in his 30s.

Illness and fatigue looms over me lately, so I’ve been trying to cut as many games out of my backlog as possible. There is still a shitload left, but it helps to acknowledge I can pass up some stuff. That list of replays is super relatable, there are too many things that could be improved on revisiting.

I’m on mobile but I’ll post a list later.

Oh actually I forgot I made this list of games I wanted to play in like 2008. I don’t feel compelled to play any of these games now, but it’s a good list for posterity?! Every so often I’ll open it back up and remove a bunch of games I ended up beating.

sadly I expect/know that Gun parade March is really menu intensive and will probably lose interest quickly. I only learned about it because of a very bad white-gamerz in Japan podcast brought it up. It sounds really interesting! Just I don’t know if PS1-RPG-speed + language barrier + exhaustion from using a second language will result in me sticking with it. I will be trying soon because it is a Plus game and only just bought another month to transfer my saves. So that one has a time limit.

I found Otogi 2 a lot easier to get into than the first, IIRC stage design was part of it.

I have good games to play (Yakuza 0 and Nier 2) but I keep playing not good games (Starcraft 2 and ESO) help me be less dumb

Warning Shattered Soldier is “short” but in true arcade murderhead tradition it is quite hard and will take a lot of practice and replays to get good enough to see the last level and the True End.

starblade ps1 doesn’t have analog controls and i think the frame rate is bad

Gate of Thunder (pcecd, right?) is pt dope iirc. Very Thunderforce III/IV.

Skip Raiden 4 and get the revamped Overkill version when it’s on sale on steam or GOG.

so my original backlog (the one that continues to grow as I let my morbid interest in all things take the wheel), as entered in my Launchbox, is over 10,000 games. not viable, given that games will continue to be released, I have limited energy and lifespan, and that the meat in the really good games comes through on replays. So, I labeled that list The Dark Backlog. I have revised it and attempted other lists, but currently I have TDB and a much shorter one focused only on games that, when they come to mind, make me think “oh fuck yeah I have to play that!” That’s titled The Holy Backlog. THB is much more fluid and changes a lot, and I try not to load it up too heavily or I’ll just end up with the same previous problem. Believe it or not, I do not have OCD, despite this repetitive behavior.

I have no experience with the old english brick so I’m purely going on other people’s nostalgia. Most of my interest in old platformers is cleverness and interesting physics. If it don’t got that, I’ll gladly remove it from the list.
