I normally wouldn’t care if they made it exclusive this early to move units, but they can’t even make enough of the damn things to meet demand yet, so I would have at least waited for that to be resolved?

Both the fact that this super powerful new system even has to go under 60fps to run a previous gen game at 4k plus I just hate that this tinkering with settings PC-lite thing is even happening with consoles. Part of the appeal of console gaming to me is that everything works the same for everyone 100% out of the box. I don’t want to be playing a game thinking gee does this look as good as it should, could I stand less fps for slightly better dithering or whatever. It’s annoying.

The Last of Us Remastered is the earliest example I can think of for “performance mode” and it’s been a slow drone from there

4k is a fuck load of pixels. the problem is everyone has a 4k tv because they cost like 10 bucks, but they sure don’t cost 10 bucks of processing power to drive. the only other option is these large developers just making a conscious decision to favor frames over higher fidelty graphics, which they should anyway because it’s cheaper. but they want to look nice in promo material.
