Yeah I don’t mean Heavy Handed I just meant that it actually has something to say about the world we live in and I can’t even handle escapism in my video games right now.

Apparently the sales pitch for Olympics branded media is to desperately avoid reminding people of the actual event

there was a decent length of time when I would’ve been ready to just say fuck it and buy this thing but now I’m just thinking about how I couldn’t put up with paper-thin quirky shit on apple arcade and it seems impossible that this will be any different

feel like that should be the title for a game about a more literal thousand-faces gimmick

The sci-fi survival horror classic Dead Space returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up by Motive Studios to offer a deeper and more immersive experience. Harnessing the power of the Frostbite game engine and next generation consoles, this remake brings jaw-dropping visual fidelity and improvements to gameplay while staying true to the original. Dead Space will be available on PlayStationÂź5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

and Isaac’s beloved partner, Nicole, is lost somewhere on board.

Now Isaac is alone with only his tools and engineering skills as he attempts to uncover the nightmarish mystery of what happened aboard the Ishimura. Trapped with hostile creatures called “necromorphs”, Isaac faces a battle for survival, not only against the escalating terrors of the ship, but his own crumbling sanity.

this weird new post-Stardew Valley world where the way to make an indie nod to an old series is to copy every aspect as slavishly as possible

really seems to have picked up in the last year or two with the direct Pokemon clones finally hitting PC and doing well, too

I was browsing the PS Store sale list last night and there is so much weird shit under $5 that is “character design ripped off from one game, box art style ripped off from another”

It’s just Box Boy in Hollow Knight and Minecraft Cube Fall Guys all over the place

So which exact game is it copying? It mentions 3 different series in the Youtube description

hmm, good point, that vibe was kind of always present in XBLA stuff. Maybe the difference I’m feeling is that it’s moved upmarket to the high-budget indie stuff with in-season cute 'n cuddly aesthetics. It’s respectable to clone a Nintendo game now.

maybe

in the vein of Ultima Underworld, Arx Fatalis, and the King’s Field series

means, we couldn’t quite bring ourselves to carry forward all the jank and stiffness of true From Soft so we normed it
