I’d read a rumour about the FF pixel remasters yesterday, and I am the person who hoped they’d look like Octopath and the DQIII remake.

It just struck me how Final Fantasy and the Simpsons are almost perfectly analogous
You have 3 or 4 to 6 as the golden age, younger fans will say hey but 7 to 10 are pretty good too!

Nier Automata and DQXI were both so good that I no longer distrust their like, general ear for melodrama the way I did for 15 years, I just can’t for the life of me get into an MMORPG up to the point when it gets good or whatever. I’ve tried, I don’t make it even a fraction of the way in that I’m supposed to.

I’m expecting the blonde guy with a huge sword in Final Fantasy Origin to be the main character and titular Stranger of Paradise because he has this pajama shirt on when everybody else is wearing Impractical Looking Fantasy Armor
I’m hoping he comes from the Real World
And I’m expecting multiple callbacks to Jarmusch’s 1984 movie

The new sprites don’t look nearly as bad as the 2013/4 Super Eagle abominations, but they still look really bad next to older forms.
I really don’t think the big, chunky OG FF1 sprites look good when you start adding more colors to them. 
(I mostly liked the FF1 remake sprites)
(Also, looking at the full-sized chart, whoever made it wasn’t being careful about making sure they weren’t applying antialiasing to the original sprites that never had it, so every sprite in this chart except for FF4 sprites have some edge smoothing on them.)

Even worse, I’m 99 percent sure those new sprites were done by the original artist, who now runs their mobile division and occasionally does new sprites for promo purposes
