But it is! Even comes with a free Yakuza game bundled. Just need to a tiny mod:
When I was little I didn’t like True Fantasy Live Online because I assumed it was fake anime being made for the Western console because everyone had really long noses.
Dang, he held down three jobs for 22 years
you’re welcome to post here mr naka
Egret II mini? Who saw this coming?
They’ll be selling three different types of controllers for this when it releases, as well.
The paddle and track ball controller on the far left comes with an SD card that adds 10 games that support it.
Really could have used that tate mode flipper on the astro city mini’s two vertical shmups…
I can’t see the term ‘tate mode’ without thinking about potatoes.
More games should have a Potato Mode
Hacha Mecha Fighter (Sea otter shmup) just landed on Switch
man that egret 2 stuff looks extremely cool
i am almost glad, now, that i have never invested in some kind of proper spinner / trackball solution, how perfect, how special
but also like gotta wait almost a whole year? that’s a long lead time to take on a toy taito, tell’ya that
Woah isn’t this famously buggy in Mame?
Confused that the Bic Camera preorder page has Metal Black as a special bonus and two of the other sites have Metal Black just listed.
The paddle and trackball is so good though. CAMELTRY AS INTENDED!
This thing annoys me to no end. I do not want to buy a special fetish object bad computer to play games that could run on anything I already own.
I’m a little warmer on it, because I think they’ve done a fair job of combining the price of the hardware and the software, the boom in boutique hardware design (if not usually of whole computers) is pretty cool, and I might be able to eventually use it to emulate a dreamcast fishing controller. I am more than a little annoyed that it takes an uber-precious elite indie Mac dev shop like Panic to actually ship something like this, I think the way they stomped all over what’s her name in LA and got commissions from Keita and Bennett is illustrative, and I expect UFO 50 to be the better collection. but I’m still looking forward to it.
there’s definitely an element of “anyone can have simple, uncomplicated fun***”
*** fun is wrapped in several layers of sanctimony and our main outreach engineer is a dad who makes $200k and tweets about snacks
honestly the biggest turnoff to me is that all discussion has been about drawing a social group around the people making it, drawing a social groups of the expected developers, identifying and valuing the expected purchasers, meta-discussion about these discussions. It’s the re-vomitation of self-guilt that surrounds tech products without any substance and it’s so, so tiring with little referrent to any actual work people are trying to put into the world
