i was baffled by it. Sonic in Two Point Hospital, huh?
itās really weird to me how video games are like a billion dollar industry and yet they still canāt think of a better way to promote shit than charisma vacuums in hoodies reading off teleprompters
Iām dying
iāll call doc sonic
best news about the sonic video is that sonic the hedgehog is now canonically just a guy in a fursuit
pouring one out in honor of today being the last day that Zap the Hedgehogās page on the Sonic Fanon Wiki is the top search result for āsonic zapā
(ā¦zap is the word that sonic traced out in that 2022 teaser at the end right? the more i type the less sure i am about this post send tweet)
Definitely looks like Sonic Team is putting Sonic inside Destiny 2, those are Vex alpha effects
leaning towards knuckles
Those 7 seconds of footage from Lost Judgment actually made me interested in that game I didnāt realize there was going to be like, jumping around and shit.
The brutal thing is that that was the most āexcitingā announcement for me. Two Point Hospital is pretty alright!
And wtf is Amazon Luna, Iāve never heard of that in my life
iirc Luna is Amazonās Stadia equivalent
that is definitely how I read it when I was watching the stream, so Iām glad Iām not alone
Is that out already? I guess not, huh, otherwise I would have heard⦠But who knows, Amazon is screwing up completely every time it takes a stab at videogames
10 billion polygons. Shit actually works. What does this even mean for videogames, that we now have what seems like unlimited detail? Itās insane and I canāt even begin to imagine the maths wizardry behind this. Itās like they found the holy grail
Dead Rising 7 with duplicated assets as far as the eye can see
Well, it looks like itās actually 10 million polygons repeated 1000 times. Impressive, no doubt, but I have yet to see one of these demos where theyāre touting 10 billion polygons but using more than one unique 10 million poly mesh to build it.
Like, show me how this runs when you have 100 unique 10 million meshes instanced 1000 times.
True! But isnāt that kind of the demos they showed already? That Land of the Nanites from a while ago and the new one from yesterday? Or do you think thatās just clever use of the same Quixel assets rotated and repeated again and again?
Donāt think Iāve seen those yet. Iāll have to check them out.
I guess I still feel kind of burned from John Carmackās megatexture stuff. Was really impressive technically but then they made a game with it and the weaknesses became apparent (spin around real quick on console and watch the whole blurry world sharpen up in real time).
Now I know todayās hardware is probably specifically designed to make that sort of thing ancient history but you know the people making these demos probably already know or have a good idea what the bottlenecks and weak spots are with this tech performing at runtime. I donāt want to see controlled demo environments I want to see the internal test stuff theyāre doing. I want to see where it starts to break down.
