Zelda: Cries of the Commonwealth

imo meat acquired from bokoblin backpacks is ethically sourced

I saw that if you tap the switch with your Animal Crossing islander amiibo cards, it just produces piles of meat. Who knows where that stuff is coming from but maybe it’s too metaphysically complicated to ascribe it an ethical value.

Free meat.

maybe i just kick ass or whatever but i’ve found myself with too many meals. i can’t eat enough in this game. and i’m at a weird point where everything either does 1 heart of damage or less, OR instantly flattens me, so eating isn’t all that useful

should i be Witchering this game and using potions before battles or something? the difficulty balance in this game is weird.

also, just finished the very long cave section underneath Lookout Landing (which only opens after doing one dungeon) and it kicked ass. Lucky that I had like 45 bombs stockpiled from the underground though. I got some real nice armor out of the deal too

Also did the triple labyrinth - they’re not really that hard, took me about 40 minutes total. Was disappointed in the reward but otherwise great fun.

I don’t know. I am having difficulties in getting engaged by this game. I am at the start but I cannot really stand having to manipulate objects with joycons just to build a bridge and proceed.

I honestly love playing blender in Zelda but there’s only been one or two shrine challenges that have felt suitably satisfying to solve with the tools. My biggest hope for DLC is just a series of truly challenging test chambers.

I think the Hudson Sign side tasks have been the most consistently fulfilling of the puzzles to solve with the GMOD tools. Give me a little more of that.

I love how wild the Depths get, especially when you hit the edges of the map. Getting the wind waker hat was amazing. Opening a little unassuming treasure chest, and then having two incredibly difficult and scary enemies I’d never seen before spawn like 10 seconds after, that was a fun moment.

I would like to pitch a game to Nintendo, the premise is “breath of the wild / tears of the kingdom” but it looks exactly like wind waker. Wind of the Waker

I have literally solved every one of these I’ve encountered with the same basic structure. It has never failed me and I want to know what other people are doing where they can’t just recycle an old solution

The first few dozen or so I had one solution that worked most times but there’s been a few others that are different enough that had me make custom solutions. A few outliers has stuck out enough to make them feel just fresh enough like being on uneven terrain or having different hooks or slots in the back and my own personal rule to not pull out zonai devices or autobuilds.

My first solution was to take a single wood stud and sorta prop it under the sign. it was exactly the right height and so it just worked. it, of course, did not work in subsequent signs

i mostly can’t remember what my last solution was so i just cook up something bespoke every time though

yeah, I’m sure there’s a way to build the exact same rig and have it work every time, but i’m having fun looking at what’s different about a particular sign and coming up with something that uses its specific configuration.

i am also not very good with it. they are indeed some of my favorite ultrahand puzzles.

So apparently the reason why I had so much trouble with this, and the not-terribly-far-away spring-centered shrine, is because I’m missing a crucial bit of equipment I didn’t know existed, which would have caused me to not die. Logically, I should go get it, but now it’s a matter of principle: I want to see how far I can go. Also, I’m really excited about beating Weeble Shrine the wrong way!

Tried fighting my first Geeok tonight, and broke all my bows. Is there a trick or are them crazy dragons supposed to just test your resource pool and I was lacking?

i’ve been too cowardly to approach them but i feel like you might be able to reflect their death beams with appropriate shields and then go ham during a brief stun period, if they aren’t immune to the damage type? or maybe you’re supposed to be attaching some opposite elemental stuff to your arrows (what is this for lightning?) and have all your bows around 30+

you can solve pretty much all of the hudson sign puzzles by activating a floating zonai platform underneath the sign

it’s more fun to use physics though!

Just when I thought the game was winding down it gives me the most on brand unBirthday present.

got one of those ‘dragon’s tears’ cutscenes last night and in with ganon’s familiar army of monsters was some terrifying looking thing i havne’t seen yet. good tease.
