Watched Batman v Superman on a totally legal website the other day and hoooooo people were not exaggerating about how bleak this movie is. I though some of the Batman stuff was a pretty good fit for Snyder, particularly Bats fighting regular humans and talking to Alfred, so maybe the stand-alone Batman flick could be good in an action shlockey kind of way.
MAN the rest of it, though. There is a LOT of screen time devoted to posing trailer-ready questions about what’s ostensibly the narrative thrust of the movie, but never following up on any of those ideas. The actual conflict between Batman and Supes turns out to be completely one-sided, with Superman constantly asking him to stop throughout the fight, which like, that sucks when you’re expecting to see two characters in contest, determined to win. The fact that character arcs in general were entirely non-existent isn’t a great sign for what’s to come.
On the other hand, J. K. Simmons.
I think Afflack is going to be directing the next Bats movie so Snyder won’t have to worry his tats about it
