itā€™s genuinely bewildering that it went viral among youtube teens years after it came out framed as some sort of cursed and demonic creepypasta object with otherworldly powers, like it was just this sort of benignly conceptual ambient album popular on the middle of the road indie music blogs i used to read in high school a decade ago

yeah i think ā€œtotal dissolution of personal identityā€ is a pretty terrifying fate so i get why folks would get caught up in a record like that. particularly when the Meme Challenge is marathon listening to 6 LPs of frequently unsettling music

especially younger folks who probably arenā€™t as familiar with the way memory slips away from everyone with time
