this was the first pere ubu album in a while that i felt like i bounced off of, in part since the raymond chandler theme acts as kind of an excuse to go all in on the curmudgeonly-out-of-time-guy bit which was always the least interesting part of david thomas’s later persona to me. but this song in particular keep bringing me back so maybe it’ll click eventually.

I was briefly obsessed with this song because it was (sigh) the song used in a “freestyle walking” video. You know, when people were trying to make Soap-shoe rail grinding into an actual thing
