hey, my regular thursday nights have a theme song now
no one ever looked better with an sg, natural fact
Iâve probably listened to this track from the new Goldfrapp album more than all of the other tracks combined:
And
My brainâs internal jukebox is a strange one
yes i will be that person
no toups allowed in my treehouse
This whole album (wow here i am again) is an incredible exercise in melodrama and poorly formed metaphors, with some of the greatest disco(or is it new wave? i donât fucekn know) bass lines Iâve ever heard.
Look of Love probably has the best couplet of all time:
âIf you judge a book by the cover
Then you judge the look by the loverâ
What in godâs name does that mean? Nobody knows, not even the singer, as is made apparent in an earlier lyric:
âWhoâs got the look?
I donât know the answer to that question
Whereâs the look?
If I knew I would tell you
Whatâs the look?
Look for your informationâ
I will listen to this album until I die
Oh and just to be clear I donât ironically love this album. I have a deep and abiding love for mixed metaphors and nonsense. I assume this was not the artistâs intention, but thatâs what happened, in my mind at least! Itâs a wonderful album.
EDIT: Christ I forgot this couplet from Many Happy Returns
âLike the phoenix, coming back, from the ashes
I know whatâs good - and I know what trash is!â
(commas added for dramatic emphasis)
What a juxtaposition right there. The mighty phoenix rises from its ashen grave, flames licking the sky and temporarily blinding all those who witness this once in a lifetime event. It turns to one person and slowly opens its eyes.
It speaks, for the first time in its new life.
âYou! Over there! Youâre a piece of trash! A pile of garbage! That person next to you though, theyâre good. Right, Iâm off.â
And flies to a dumpster to insult more trash.
88rising always killing it
the ad-libbed "ai-ya"s in the second part of the chorus are killing me
the clipped âyeeâ ad-libs are fucking life
please ignore the 30 second eminem intro
