oh, uh holy shit? andy gonzalez is like a fucking brian wilson-type figure.

the early lo-fi albums are stunning, it gets a little weaker as it goes but all the earliest stuff is incredible, especially seniors & juniors (which is like impossible to get ahold of)
say it in slang is the best of the “second era” - straight up masterpiece, he finds a way to polish his sometimes awkward transitions into something really affecting without sacrificing the power of his incredibly weird style. that plus every song on here will get caught in your head for the rest of your life.
i hadn’t heard this vangelis rides again or the new memory girl until just now but they are also great!!!
phreak phantasy was famously PANNED by, i think the athens hipster magazine of note at the time? i mean, eviscerated. it’s a divisive album that you might find hard to listen to, but it is interesting nonetheless.
