What were the first recognizable words you can remember hearing in a video game?

I really believe that the first audible spoken things I heard in a videogame had to be “ROUND 1: FIGHT” from Mortal Kombat II or III on the Sega Genesis. There were no arcades in my town so we can rule out anything like “BEWARE I LIVE” even though I say that almost every morning when I wake up

I think it was Skate or Die 2 for me, with that intro screen? Or maybe Basewars?

Thank God you’ve returned. I need your help. There’s a great deal of history that you should know, but I’m afraid that… I must continue my writing.

It should have been on C64 but it wasn’t because most of my early C64 gaming was done on a monochrome soundless monitor. So instead it’s likely Sheltem’s intro speech in Might & Magic 3, here on soundblaster but I didn’t have a sound card at that point and it actually worked on the PC speaker:

Also mine was in french.

I realized, the moment I fell into the fissure, that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned. It continued falling into that starry expanse of which I had only a fleeting glimpse. I have tried to speculate where it might have landed, but I must admit, however— such conjecture is futile. Still, the question of whose hands might someday hold my Myst book are unsettling to me. I know that my apprehensions might never be allayed, and so I close, realizing that perhaps, the ending has not yet been written.
