unsure if this is a regular winamp thing, im using WACUP because the name is funny. its in the preferences under skins on the right side (which you can get to easily by right clicking on winamp and going to skins)
the best/worst thing is to have left winamp on repeat when you close it and opening it up with a 1 second track later, only to have it change over and over so quickly that im sure its seizure inducing.

yeah i use wacup too cuz real winamp is terrible hahah WOO RANDOM SKIN ON PLAY IS CHECKED excited to not have to manually switch them all the time yayay
i’d say just to make sure to take out any of the “modern skins” that come with it. whenever it switches over to one of them its really distracting because it doesnt keep the same shape as everything else and takes up a lot of the screen for whatever reason. its really annoying since i have winamp set to always on top and its in its own little designated zone where it can run and shit and play without disturbing me but i can observe its natural beauty as it tries on one of the many, many, many lain or rei skins i’ve found

on my computer, winamp exclusively still
on my phone, vlc works well enough
good maybe it’ll be able to finally play que files and fucking shuffle correctly. ive switched to clementine cuz i couldnt take the shuffle restarting every time i hit stop and it takes SO MUCH LONGER to load my entire music library into winamp than it does clementine
i still miss wacup’s skins tho

what music app do all youse use? i’m considering dropping my apple music sub and getting back to populating my already existing music file library with soulseek. i have an updated install of wacup and, man, that app is just not any less buggy feeling than it was the last time I used it in 2023.
clementine is still perfect and better than wacup/Winamp in every way besides skins. but it has enough customization to make me happy. if you enjoy music on shuffle Id say it’s essential because Winamp will play the same songs in the same order forever and restart that same order every time you restart the program. the instant searching and sorting options are essential. the smart playlists are amazing. also unlike Winamp and wacup it can ACTUALLY PLAY CUE FILES CORRECTLY
foobar people love foobar but it’s cuz they haven’t tried clementine yet (nesting folders is fun tho)

ugh i still need to figure out my port forwarding situation w/r/t soulseek (i think it’s being blocked at the isp level) i may end up fucking around with museek and routing all my soulseek traffic through a digitalocean droplet or something
oh museek and its successor are both dead, the new one is GitHub - slskd/slskd: A modern client-server application for the Soulseek file sharing network.
incidentally it makes soulseek look like a torrent site
