What if pool (or snooker)... but weird?!

STICKY BALLS

LUNAR POOL

POOL NATION

3D ULTRA COOL POOL

SUBPAR POOL

KORONA

GLOWBALL

MINNESOTA FATS: POOL LEGEND isn’t weird as a game, but it sure has some really fun 90s FMV cutscenes.

ARCHER MACLEAN’S POOL isn’t really weird but I remember how some balls make faces at you, eyes appear in the dark background, and sometimes flies show up on the table if you take too long

I was a beta tester for this. There’s an old early test version below (it was originally called Sticky Balls, then later Magnetic Billiards)

It popped up in my RSS recently because one of my early games is on the same disc.

One for the historically curious.

PC Format 161 (May 2004, but game files are from 2002)

Nerial did an early game, since forgotten,

“Magic Shot”

Combo Pool (Pico8)

This barely qualifies but I played Applecalypse this weekend and its battles are kinda like this

You basically have to aim and shoot apples into possessed women’s mouths in order to do damage to them, but you do an extra point of damage each time said apple bounces off the side of the screen (not the bottom) beforehand. You also get coins (to buy more apples) and bullets (to shoot stuff) to appear in the first phase if you hit three straight shots within a certain period of time of each other, so the first phase ends up being more about gathering resources and figuring out the angles before the second phase where the lady tries to actively make things harder (hence the bullets to shoot stuff making your shots trickier) while you try to maximize the damage per shot as you can’t gain any more resources.

It’s not particularly good and the battles are slightly spread out by a basic visual novel/point & click adventure stages through a very B movie-esque “oh no space apples are taking over” kinda tale. Still at least a neat/odd idea.

Wii Play - Billiards

Weird that you have to hit balls showing the faces of you and your friends/family.
