what is merzbow holding. i can make sense of the springs but the rest looks like a hotplate on a power strip

i wouldn’t surprised if your description is accurate but with a contact mic in there somewhere.

Is that a bracket for fluorescent lights that he’s using as a casing for the contact mic and spring mount?

Is that round part an old dummy landmine casing?

I think it’s a film can.

And I think fluorescent light is right. Or something like that. You can see that “slide it on a screw” but at the bottom. I wonder if he’s doing something with air holes with his left hand. It looks like he’s capping the top in the first pic and then fingering notes in the second but that may be just how you hold stuff in a live performance if you have musician hands

Oh god, yes it’s totally a film can. I only deal with those all day at work, I should have caught that!

but yeah, you can make something like this easily by screen some springs into a piece of metal and taping a contact mic on it somewhere. just run it into whatever pedals you can get hold of.

or various people make small scale things that do the same job Dead Man's Line by Verdant Weapons | Chondritic Sound

How old is this set anyway? It’s neat to see clear images from the non laptop era.

Bumping this cause I got the lil boss pedal-size space echo (re-2) in the mail. Gotta love being employed

Also, found a rock band 3 midi guitar at the thrift store. Thank you to whoever gave me the heads up, in this thread or another. I have next to zero computer music experience but i found “cantabile” a non-daw (from what i understands) vst runner and it worked great to play synth with guitar. I kinda wish i had a little module with 10000 soundfonts to amp up and skip the pc. I believe this is called a “rompler”???

i have the weird hybrid strat but i think the mustang might be straight up better as a midi controller

it’s fun how it’s like the opposite of writing on keys to avoid guitar geometry

That’s a lucky find!

Im a thrift god this year, its unbelievable.

This was at “habitat for humanity restore” which is sick because there’s tools and building materials and furniture but also all this stuff nobody looks at. If you can remove clothes shoppers and hypebeasts it is so many fewer eyes stopping my plunders. I got a bunch of rap singles and a commodore 64 tape called “token of ghall”!

Fender has had all of their Vintera stuff on sale for a bit now so hopefully this means we’ll be seeing the Vintera II stuff available within the next month or two and less ass-ugly Pau Ferro. I’m hoping they do the same colors for the Mustangs as were in the EU leak because I’d love to grab the Competition colors. I’m guessing they’ll be jacking the price up on the Vintera IIs vs the current models, though, since Fender has been slowly shifting all of their price points up so they occupy the price point that was formerly above them.
