Of all the platformers I went through in my “maybe I should get into platformers” kick this year, the only one that keeps creeping into my thoughts is that darn Ninja Gaiden II. ^ _^

I feel like it must be really scary to work on a game for so long that’s in a genre which basically lives or dies by the success/failure of an overwhelming abundance of games more or less exactly like it. I think, personally, whether I’d be right to feel this way or not, I think I would be constantly in a mind set of planning some kind of way out. “As soon as this thing ships… (if it ships)… I’m gone.” It seems like it’s gotta be hard to be in that place for so long, and with how frustrating game dev is in general.

The seemingly tacked-on final paragraph of the Wikipedia page on Burning Fight:
Burning Fight received a renewed interest amongst retro gamers due to V Bloggers discovering that homeless thugs would latch onto the protagonists and perform fellatio on them, so other thugs could damage them. This was something that garnered renewed interest in the game that was considered a mediocre copy of Final Fight. Both new fans and old retro fans enjoyed this bit of information revealed.
No source is cited and at first I thought this was just a joke edit. But no there are plenty of videos.
They had a lot of ideas to get into this game. It’s actually really good but it isn’t obvious at first that the Kick button is there to extend combos. With that it’s kind of amazing.

Oh yeah also I was thinking gosh why weren’t there PS2 ports of these SNK beat em ups so I wasn’t stuck with my PS4 but I had forgotten that Burning Fight and Sengoku were in SNK Arcade Classics vol. 1–because when I bought it back in the day the games in it had a ton of slowdown on my PS2. At least, that’s what my old notes say.
But it seems to run them fine in PCSX2? This is gonna bother me at least until I can get another copy and rip it. Maybe it was just some of the ones I haven’t re-examined. Burning Fight appears to run pretty well in it though.
They are running a Street Fighter themed commercial for a sushi chain that features SF2 and a comedian for some reason and the sprites are improperly scaled in a way designed to make everyone on this forum mad.

“Fallout is real” continues to be a thing that comes up and today’s example was a radium tincture that was the precursor to Nuka-Cola. Apparently some snake oil guy discovered that two shots of the stuff a day would make someone feel superhuman, while a couple more would make someone’s jawbone get spongy and glow.
