i should get a vita…
Thinkinb about how the archetypal console romhacker impulse is “I can make this game impossible” and the archetypal PC game modder impulse is “I can make this into a kart racer somehow”
DICE, the studio responsible for Battlefield, is the same studio who did Pinball Dreams for the Amiga
OH DICE stands for Digital Illusions CE. Well heck. (Wait what’s the CE stand for?) I always imagined Digital Illusions was some British company and uh never thought about it beyond that. ^_ ^ I’ve been thinking about dipping back into those games but I’m pretty sure they’d feel way too slow and floaty now so I’ll just keep the happy memories of weird ducks quacking at me in a pinball theme park and so forth. : D
Creative Entertainment
Man they should do some more pinball, give those Zen guys a run for their money. ^ _^
earthbound 64/mother 3 and van buren/new vegas as unfinished sequels that kicked around until they could get made in a different form
that episode of community with the videogame where the joke was that the game was made by an out of touch racist and homophobe but the game looked so fun to play that people collaborated on an elaborate semi show accurate fan version that they had to write new racist and homophobic jokes for
wasn’t the game just a minecraft stand-in, or am i thinking of something else?
I know a lot of arcade system boards are based on consoles but then there is the konami python 2 which is just a whole ass ps2
it was more like a cartoony version of if elder scrolls was a platformer. sort of an “every game” parody but it might have had minecraft jokes in it
I feel like Metroid Dread also falls into this category. Even if we’ll never see the 2005 DS version, it’s clear that a lot of detritus from its design made it into other stuff along the way, from the zero laser in Brawl to steep slopes being slippery in Other M.
Not sure if Duke Nukem Forever also falls into this category, or if it’s just a traditional example of development hell.
bachi called Guile “flat top pussy” during a stream and now that’s all I can think of when I see Guile. forever
alan wake was 13 years ago. that game is going to rule
the ps2/00s in general was when games magazines really started diverging away from covering the games i was interested in. a cool project someday might be to put together a fake period-style ps2 magazine, but covering cool and interesting games instead of like, vietnam fpses and fifa. maybe in the visual style of magazines of the time, but written in a modern style and from a modern perspective, not some weird time travel roleplaying excercise.
each issue covers the games (and other related stuff like any weird peripherals and such) that came out in a year. i was originally going to suggest merging 2000 and 2001, but apparently over 120 games came out in 2000 so that would be unnecessary
What if we stopped shooting people.
