videogame things you think about a lot lot lot lot

Yeah, something like Shovel Knight it works because the game is pretty much linear. Maybe it works better in a real Souls game. In a game that’s pretty open and there’s nothing to keep you from wandering into a high level area, getting one shotted and being naked and having to go get your gear and XP again or losing out on it all.

Oh man I love this guy. A few years ago IGN Japan posted an interview with him where they talk about how he’s played like 300 STALKER mods. I really admired it because none of this shit is in Japanese and he was playing stuff like Secret Trails 2 so he was putting in a lot of work to play these mods like a real stalker. He is one of the reasons that they are even accessible to Japanese audiences at all.

I have so much $20-$50 tech hooked up to my 10 year old PS4 with the express purpose of compensating for how old it is: a 5ghz wireless AP connected over ethernet to avoid using the horrible builtin 2.4ghz wifi that conflicts with the bluetooth at this point, an SSD in a USB3 enclosure, and a dedicated cheap speaker connected over optical, all because I simply do not want to replace it (a PS5 is not worth it to me, and any other streaming stick that I could use to get apps on my projector does not play PS4 games and is not already in my house) but it doesn’t integrate with any of my faster storage or better networking or wireless audio on its own, so I’m stuck with this souped up old piece of junk as my objective best option

there’s something amusing to me about having hung on to any piece of technology long enough that you have a justification to use every single one of the ports. and somehow only the MLB app has dropped support for it by now. hoping peacock hangs on until PS6.

I have a wireless repeater near my PS4 and an Ethernet cable connecting it because wireless strength means nothing to this old hunk of junk, it can’t connect to the Internet reliably over WiFi at all anymore.

Never thought I would have to dig that repeater out of storage after we moved into a house and got a decent wifi router from our ISP

yeah this is technically a $20 5ghz repeater, I just have the repeating turned off because what I wanted was an AP

it’s not! there’s like zero exploration on the planets!! you get one star in an area and then you fucking move on! I hate it!

I think a lot about how me and my partner played a demo of shadow of the colussus in Japan but couldn’t get ANYWHERE because we didnt know what the fuck was going on. I got my sword to shine but didn’t understand what it was about at all and so I just kept making as many lines come from it as possible, you know when you’re pointing the exact wrong way, and then I was like this is fucking dumb you can’t do anythjng must be a really unfinished demo and left the store. he rode around on his horse for a bit but never actually pulled out the sword hahhah
