am I odd for preferring mega man 1
i’ll just be blunt: yeah.
but thats okay! you can be odd
if people were not odd we would not have Abe’s OddWorld. then it would just be Abe’s World.
Abe’s World, Abe’s World, party time, excellent
Same. I played 1 for the first time on the Wii Virtual Console after playing nearly every other game in the series, and I was so surprised how much more I liked it over 2 or 3. There’s a nice flow and interesting design that they later refined but some they don’t carry forward.
The platform beam is really creative and surprising they made that for the first game and then never again. I suppose Rush serves a similar purpose but the beam really feels more mod-like, like you’re hacking the game. There’s a finickiness to it, like tapping it and making a little platform uses the same amount of energy as just holding it for a second, so there’s a small level of mastery, plus you can create 3 or more at a time. It’s unpolished and a little broken, which makes it feel subversive and fun but also a great handicap for me because I can never do the Gutsman conveyor belt drop area normally.
I really like how the end boss rush is also an entire full stage instead of just being a teleport room like in every other game in the series. The story build up from taking down a fortress with the bosses that ultimately pays off against a fight versus your own clone is incredible. They really went all out from the very beginning.
Anyway, 1 has been my favorite since then with 9 being my second fav.
Largely yes, but I’d argue that for example Resident Evil 7 is much more of a digression/experimentation than Mega Man 2 or Ghouls and Ghosts. Perhaps said experimentation is stuck within familiar branding now.
re7 was kind of a one off though because re8 and re4 remake are not even nearly as close to trying to do anything novel as 7
I’m start to hate visit steam and turn to looking for the homepage from the publisher. Games on steam are all look the same.
idk if this is just a thing from every xcom but i watched some of the third party action game spinoff Xcom Enforcer a while back and now keep thinking about the impossibly jacked robo marine player mowing down squads of nude, 3ft-high alien greys

The Battle for Wesnoth keep updating last for 22 years?!
Apparently, this is a Bomberman character:

he’s so cool!!!
I regret to inform you:
Birdy appears to dislike women, since he was initially angry about a woman (Shout) being appointed the new leader of the Jetters after Mighty’s disappearance. Also, Mujoe comments about being surprised to see Birdy show kindness towards a woman when he later expresses concern for Shout.
so he’s a digimon who sucks
I can fix him
