Videogame Music Thread (Part 1)

Going through the La Mulana 2 OST on a whim, I was surprised to see only one mega-banger compared to La Mulana 1’s, like, 10+.

love how this MM4 tune has the manic energy of the best MM1-3 tunes, but is just that little bit more “considered” compositionally - that bassline is arcing all over, electric-like!

also is it just me or this tune sort of a seed for the entire MMX soundtrack

this tune was my introduction to MM music:

will always love its bouncy-yet-wistful, highway-driving, ocean-gazing vibe

I was looking through Hirofumi Taniguchi’s credits, music director for Chu  Lip and Moon RPG Remix, and I saw the pseudonym “Thelonious Monkees.” Turns out this is the name of a duo including him and Masanori Adachi, who had done Rocket Knight Adventures among other works. I found this gem of a GBC soundtrack from Koto Battle. The quality of the upload is not great, but I can still hear the cleverness in the compositions.
