the arcade version is so sloooooow

i wonder if anyone has gotten the music to play properly. it’s some kind of emulation bug, or unfinished tempo implementation on the prototype or whatever. not intended to be that slow

every time i see the music from this game mentioned i can’t help but think of the classic old OC Remix arrangement of the “Riding in Hollywood” music:

cute little song, love the bubbliness of it

Also this is a neat little mix of (mostly) nintendo music with a very particular vibe:

I like that this person selects some very short songs from unlikely places - the Nintendo WFC Menu music from Pokemon Battle Revolution being one of them.

It’s good shit

I had completely forgotten that Vertical Force (Virtual Boy shmup) has this dope, kinda mellow soundtrack

It’s really really good, especially stages 2 and 3.

There are a few really good songs on the VB, and it has a distinctive sound to my ears that doesn’t get replicated elsewhere. I think the “black and red floating in the void” feeling kind of impacted the soundtracks, because many of them have this reverby soft-but-sharp feeling. It’s really interesting.

Tagged for a cool song, couldn’t find the OST on YT:

the first comment on this video predictably is that “the sound was fucking turd on every game” which just goes to show that people are, as I’ve mentioned before, fucking weird

About 10 or so years ago former Eurocom composer Neil Baldwin revisited his NES work and was able to recover the soundtrack to a lost/unannounced game based off of Erik the Viking:
