i saw the crypt worlds thing and was excited that there might be an 8bit remix of crypt worlds music. this is okay though. at least i still have that one upload from SiivaGunner

I just played the demo for MINDWAVE, and then looked up a bit more info on MINDWAVE, and discovered that the official upload of the main song from MINDWAVE was uploaded on January 15th, and already has one
million and 78 thousand views
Between this and ENA: Dream BBQ apparently having a gigantic fanbase I was completely unaware of until this week, I haven’t felt more like I’m missing out on peak gaming in my life

MINDWAVE and ENA Dream BBQ def feel Gen Z-core to me. i didn’t know about ENA as an animated series but apparently it originates from 2020 which feels like the formative year in online Gen Z culture. it’s the same with how B3313 originates from weird esoteric iceberg memes and a bunch of creepypasta videos people made about Mario 64 all around 2020.
but yeah i follow these sorts of things just as another weird cool looking game but never really comprehend the fandom behind them, maybe because i’m just so used to weird cool looking games getting very niche to no interest in them in the past. obviously that’s changing somewhat but it also feels arbitrary what attracts the huge fandom and what doesn’t as someone outside this space and not tracking the individual fandoms (i don’t know how you could anyway - sometimes they are deliberately impenetrable to outsiders).
but yeah if millennials liked stuff like Goblet Grotto or Barkley Shut Up And Jam! Gaiden it was still something relatively niche in comparison with how younger people engage with that sort of art now - it feels more like a subject of focus and with higher production values, for better or worse.
