halos 4 and 5 are not videogames
ok
- sekiro
- saga scarlet grace
- death stranding
- resident evil 2
- ninja warriors once again
other stuff i liked: amid evil, link’s awakening switch (though i probably prefer the gbc version?) reach pc, romancing saga 3 hd
still yet to play the podcaster rpg or outer wilds
Y’all, I just realized Wattam comes out in one week. Will we all be revising our lists?
Here’s my moderately well maintained Media Diary, ignoring the fact that the movies, music and books sections basically languished. I estimate I played about 30 straight days of games this year, which is…fucken weird, I guess
Anyway, I was trying to come up with a top 5 games of 2019 but I’ve only played 9 games released in 2019 that I remember, so here’s a list of 2019 games that I really liked
- Baba is You
- Shakedown Hawaii
- Dragon Quest Builders 2
The end
Total Year of Release is the best field on a spreadsheet I have ever seen
update: i did play the podcaster rpg and it was good
so it seems like the outer wilds and disco elysium are the games of 2019, right. i look forward to playing them in 2022
I wrote a list that I will not spellcheck until tomorrow morning welcome to the end of 2019
Inspired by Rudie, I done did something similar
Wow i wrote that list and forgot I played Her Knight All For Princess and Tomak Save The Earth Again.
honestly you should play Outer Wilds right now
no Ori2, no GTR3, no surprise.
Otoh:
Baba is You has been a pleasant surprise,
EDF5 a mainstay this year,
Ace Combat 7 was blue skies (with some cloudy skies overhead),
Forza Horizon4 somehow didn’t get old for a revisit for a few hours every month,
CONTROL never got out of control of being fun,
Sanic Kart 3 had been super, but not SUPERSONNICK,
Link’s Awakening was a nice revisit of a place you knew as well as your hometown,
Warriors Orochi 4 is not-as-trashy-goofy-2p-couch-coop’y as Orochi 3 was,
Katamari HD has been a glorious Réunion with old friends and lovers,
and Astral Chain… somehow didn’t click totally with me yet.
goty.... still a bit on the fence, since i haven't gotten Wattam yet. Most fun i had though, was EDF5, so technically that would be my GotY then, and is a worthy contender.
I’m definitely waiting to make my list until I play Wattam.

pathologic 2
ok now to talk about what I conspicuously didn’t like
goose game was probably the most overrated title of the year for me
it’s not bad but it really is just hitman with a narrower and more frustrating / less playful possibility space, and in a year in which there were like two dozen games doing new and more interesting things it didn’t rate very highly
likewise with wattam
elsinore is the game whose presentation and writing I bounced off of despite really liking the concept
sekiro I was pretty vocal about disliking and haven’t moved on
can’t believe you pushed through on god of war and not sekiro
sometimes you gotta call yourself basic
Felix and I are the basic babbies of the forum, and there’s no shame in it
