What
you heard me
Oh that ok
I called it Synecdoche, Nathan
abbott elementary is pretty standard/above average workplace sitcom stuff, but janelle james in it is funny as hell, like almost on the level of catherine o’hara in schitt’s creek. just runs away with every scene she’s in
Netflix autoplayed The Umbrella Academy so we gave it a shot.
It’s good (to me).
I appreciate the detail of the world without certain technologies — microfiche, pneumatic tubes, and landlines are still ubiquitous. I like to imagine certain political events changing prevented United States v. AT&T.
I can see how the first season ending would be frustrating.
The second season is executing incredibly well on a dicey premise five episodes in. The tone reminds me of Machinegames Wolfenstein.
They did a fantastic job making a Canadian production look like Dallas with a few big effects shots.
Just watched the premiere of Nathan Fielder’s new show, The Rehearsal. It’s great! It carries forward the best part of Nathan For You: solving weird, self-created problems using incredibly overcomplicated plans that, through sheer force of will and budget, actually somewhat work.
The show really plays on Fielder’s comedic persona as a terminally awkward and socially anxious guy. It takes the concept so far that it’s sort of a parody of the ways people can overthink social situations. It’s relatable!
So far I find this show a lot less cringey and ethically dubious than his previous show too. Fielder is still being consistently dishonest with the people who appear on his show, but (at least in this episode) he seems genuinely invested in his subject’s success. The show is really rooting for the guy, and he gets his happy ending.
Fielder sort of sets himself up as a foil to his subject. They’re both painted as socially awkward dudes who’ve deceived people and want a way out of the deception. In the end, the subject handles things relatively well and all is fine. Meanwhile Nathan is this villainous loser who keeps on deceiving everyone around him and never has the guts to own up to it. So it seems here that Nathan is much more the butt of the joke than his subjects this time around. That sounds less funny when I write it out, but there were some bits that had me laughing out loud (like forcing the guy to cheat at bar trivia without knowing it, by taking him on walks full of “coincidental” encounters that tutorialize the answers to every one of the trivia questions in advance). It’s sort of a metalayer of the joke, I suppose. Fielder’s plans are getting even more bizarre because he’s bending over backwards to keep these people virtuous while still pushing them through his demented process.
But really I have no idea where this show is gonna go, the next episode preview looked WILD.
read this as “Horse of the Dragon” which would be more interesting to me
YouTube thumbnail gives you a brief glimmer of hope that this is a “Dinosaurs” style family sitcom featuring a family of wacky wisecracking dragons in the game of thrones universe… What a letdown
Is this from that Chris Pratt SEAL show
Is it as abjectly miserable as it seems
come on what
krasinski, now pratt… are sitcom white boys an op?
michael cera netflix show about mounties
The next one should definitely be Bob Odenkirk as a CIA assassin lol
oh shi-
yes. all the reviews complained about how much it sucks because chris pratt is a charisma-less void in it, so I took that to mean finally, they made chris pratt good, or at least tolerable enough to enjoy taylor kitsch while he watches pratt’s six on his visits to the museum of dead wifery. and I’ve liked it enough so far. I didn’t expect how much of an unhinged maniac they were gonna make the main character come across as, so it’s true to navy sealism.
im all in
so is nathan fielder, you know, a “friend of data” or
the rehearsal is quite something
Man I gave this a chance on your good word but Pratt is the unambiguous good guy getting got by the High Level Conspiracy and his paranoia is justified at every turns by events and at the beginning of episode 3 he’s literally wearing a Black Rifle Coffee Co shirt in full view of the camera. I don’t think I can excuse this one
