I saw a blog by the former Cracked editor bemoaning that Reacher will never get filler episodes, and presented the notion that the series would be perfect for a special Christmas episode where something bad happens to a family around Christmas time, and then Reacher wanders into town and solves the situation through violence, eats Christmas dinner with a family and then leaves town at the end. And maybe he was joking but it sounded like it would be pretty fun to wtch.

Whatās the deal with that show anyway? I watched like the first couple seasons and found it quite funny, certainly one of the funnier shows at the time, but it didnāt exactly compel me to keep up with it, and now itās got like 12 fuckin seasons or whatever? Is this another Simpsons situation? Am I gonna see the girl with the rabbit ears on T-shirts commemorating the Sino-American War of 2026?

We still like it, granted we havenāt kept up that well with the last few seasons, but i miss the, edge i guess it had the first few years. The jokes were more adult and out there. There are so many plots and lines in the first season i canāt imagine them doing now.
yeah the show is likeā¦ consistently inconsistent and has been the entire time its been on the air. i donāt think it ever gets as bad as the worst simpsons episodes though. i guess ymmv but at itās best i think itās like one of the best written shows ever, at its worst its likeā¦ a mildly amusing pleasant diversion. like just when i think they have fallen off they will have an episode that i find both hilarious and genuinely moving (for an example of the type of shit i really go nuts for check out season 13 episode 4)

I like could not deal with the way jack reacher speaks but I imagine that show is making my dad happy so I guess Iām happy for that
bobās burgers rules. teddy is one of the greatest cartoon characters ever imo. i love the way the kids are written

Facebook shows me Simpsons clips from the last 15 years and they are jaw droppingly awful, conservative, and racist. Youād think they were from the 90s but you could easily switch the 90s and the 2010s episode to show āprogressā.
There are multiple Lisa turns to the camera to explain why wanting better things is stupid.

the past few weeks thereās been an advertising blitz for the new season of the simpsons in the uk.
the simpsons used to be one of the main selling points for satellite tv over here, alongside wrestling and soccer. this is the first year since it started that itās not on there, being exclusive to disney plus now.
but who really cares? you can get all the good seasons of the simpsons on dvd pre-owned for not much more than the price of a single month of disney plus, and theyāll be in the proper resolution and aspect ratio.
a couple of years ago, i watched marge be not proud and a more recent xmas episode back to back at a friendās house, and it really highlights the difference in quality marge be not proud is just constant jokes, something funny happens literally every few seconds while the more modern episode had maybe two or three laughs the entire episode.

The Studio is really funny and does capture the constant repression and degradation that goes into working on film and television. I am not a studio head and only do low budget Tubi slop but it really is just soul shredding the entire way up sometimes.

White Lotus s3 was so bad it had me questioning whether i had actually enjoyed the first two seasons or if i had somehow been tricked or was maybe too stoned when i watched those seasons
but no, i do think there are things in those first two that are good. mostly itās Jennifer Coolidge, but Michael Imperioli and Aubrey Plaza didnāt hurt, either.
but mostly it just comes down to the writing and the plot. just way too many unbelievable developments and situations, the kind that make you think āis this person stupid?ā (that applies to either the writer or the character in the scene, depending). just so much of it felt so transparent in terms of what they were trying to do, like i could picture the writers rubbing their hands together, thinking āhaha wait until these rubes get a load of this! theyāre gonna freak the fuck out!ā
except you donāt because itās nothing you havenāt seen or heard or thought done better elsewhere. i think this season of the show would be good for a person who has never heard a story in their entire life. if that person exists, then show them White Lotus s3 and watch their minds explode.
from the out-of-nowhere autogynephelia monlogue, to the meaningless incest plot, to the āmurder will make you successful and happy, actuallyā resolution of one of the dumbest characters in any show ever (edit: i realized after typing this one, it could definitely apply to at least two characters this season), one has to wonder whether this season is a result of laziness, hubris, or maybe Mike White scared off all the real talent.
who can say. part of me wants to write about every detail that sucked because it will allow me to cleanse my mind of this garbage, but another part of me is like āonly Felix will really careā
