True Profit's Kiss (gta 6)

I think being cynical about NYC or LA in the mode of Rockstar is just not very interesting to me because I know them both pretty well and it always feels like a gloss on the wrong aspects of life there (also in comparison to virtually any real movie for that matter), whereas being cynical about Florida inevitably becomes weirdly optimistic in the service of making it any fun at all because Florida itself is so much more cynical than it ought to be in the first place that you can’t help but write some spark into it

I would be annoyed that this trailer only shows off like 3 things you’ll actually do while pressing buttons in this game, and feels it was supposed to be a rolling video at their E3 booth, but I know the score from GTAV. They’re going to be putting out a trailer a month showing some new aspect of the game, as a professional woman calmly tells me “You’re about to experience the largest most in depth crime fantasy simulator Rockstar has ever developed.”

Honestly I’m so ignorant, and disinterested, in GTAO that its probably not worth thinking about this game at all. I’m sure everything I want in GTA is in GTAO somewhere, symbiotically and irrevocably linked to some retention mechanic that will make me recoil as soon as I understand its tutorial message.

I played enough GTAV/O to recognize a lot of the idle animations in that trailer.

This could be The Last Big Videogame. I can’t imagine a scenario where they pour more money and make something bigger. Imagine a GTA game that takes 20 years to make and it’s for the Playstation 8 or 9, that’s what we’re talking about here. I think this will be it for spectacles of scale like this, and to think it’s just going to be plastered with dick and balls puns everywhere.

So many reaction/analysis videos, so little time.

Watch it not even have online at launch. They’ll charge $100 and tell people the online is coming in 3-6 months.

I imagine online will come later like it did with GTA V. In this case it will probably be significantly expanded. I heard they hired a bunch of the people who developed the FiveM mod so if that’s true they’re probably doing their own version of that which would be an entirely different thing from the single player. Would make sense to keep them separate since the audience is split between people who exclusively prefer online to single player or vice versa.

Can’t remember if this got posted here already or not but I’ve seen it making the rounds and finally got around to reading it and it was a pretty good article.

GTA V had the standard range of settings for the aiming. You could do the traditional lock on like in the earlier games or have a soft lock on or lock on at all. I usually stuck with the traditional lock on because turning if of completely didn’t feel as good as a game where it was primarily designed to be played that way and I don’t know that I bothered with the soft lock. Maybe I did use the soft lock because the way it works when I play is it snaps to the main body of a person and then you can move it to the head or a limb as you want.

Traditional lock made it a bit too easy but that was better than it being unnecessarily fiddly or janky. Early on I went full sicko with no lock just pushing a little reticle around the center of the screen missing my shot more often than not. The game was a lot more performant than IV but still not responsive enough to make free aim actually feel good.

I imagine the free aim will be improved in VI. It will have to if they’re going to try and make the first person mode more like Call of Duty or whatever. But I hope they keep the options for the other modes.

Assuming the first person mode returns which I hope it does because it would be criminal to take it to this level of detail and not let me stick my face right up into it.

man im getting flashbacks to my experience of playing GTA V in 2013 and being completely baffled by how lame the shooting was. i only became aware it was possible to finetune aiming settings many years later, so what i’d do sometimes was manually “un-lock” the aim for like roleplay purposes. trying to make the shootouts have any weight whatsoever. obviously that felt really dumb, so i let it go.

i remember feeling like a crazy person in school because all my buddies during recess who were also playing it couldn’t stop talking about awesome it all was and i was just there, thinking about how i couldn’t remember what was the plot for a single mission i did on the previous day in other terms than “i got somewhere by car then drove somewehere else”. in retrospect it’s one of those moments in my life where i was very eager to find online places with more interesting things to read about games.

and it’s weird cuz i really really like red dead redemption and GTA IV!

They made the driving and shooting in gta 5 as frictionless as possible it’s so boring compared to literally any other rockstar game
