Lunar 2 Unworked 2.0 release
Hope the patch is easier to apply than the one for the Siver Star, which I had to give up on and just download pre-patched like a chump.
The BSnes author may have exited emulator scene but has apparently been deadset on completing an almost 23 year project of theirs to translate Bahamut Lagoon since then with the help of RetroTranslator Tom. The work seems to be nearing completion after a full playthrough test has now been successful. A twitter thread on the history of the project:

I like how it also covers the evolution of hacking fonts
1998
2001
2007
2009
2020
that small 2001 font is so upsetting
Gotta respect that dedication, it’d be really easy to not want to keep working on this considering most everyone interested has probably played the Dejap translation that came out 18 years ago.
It’s pretty much out as an open beta:
They’re planning to have an updated version out by February that fixes typos and other minor things that have come up.
This is the complete English (re)translation of Wizardry Scenario #1: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord for WonderSwan Color.
While the game itself still had an english option available just like in previous other ports, but it was buried in the Japanese option and had total of 4 different switches for changing different parts of the text’s language. This hack translates the option screens (with some string limitations) as well re-translates everything that was wrong with it such as many grammar errors particularly for English mode that was still present in the original game now fixed.
this is hilarious
That was fast
THEY FOUND THE SONIC 1 PROTOTYPE WITH UFOS AND ROLLING BALLS WHAT THE HECKKKKKKK 2021 IS KILLER ALREADY
Sorry if this isn’t a Romhack or translation, but seemed the right spot for it
Don’t forget this thread!
you may have also seen it here, long long ago
this was one of my most popular posts for a long time, after it got linked to on kotaku
promising
render96 means they’re trying to make it look like still renders from 1996? that’s amazing!
Yeah, that’s the goal. Clearly trying to mimic stuff like the renders in the manual and such but I also like how they’re going for alternative sources in cases where Mario 64 doesn’t have them like basing Peach on Mario Kart 64.
I still think they’re not quite there yet with the environments (which I realize is a huge amount of work and may not be feasible) but those character models are looking good.
This is the best part of Yooka-Layllee is it looks like SGI renders.
