I love this album:
(Now ANOHNI and the Johnsons)
there’s some trans artist named ella guro who has an album coming out in a few weeks. just mentioning it for no reason - they’re kinda obscure. it probably won’t be that good but you know, some people might like it.
i haven’t listened in awhile but i like some of Katie Dey’s stuff
obligatory fire-toolz mention as well
i’m pretty sure the artist who did this incredibly long/arduous/compelling ambient album i discovered recently is trans? perhaps trans and non-binary
placeholdery post because youtubes are extremely crashy on phone but i really like octo octa
and of course the legendary marie-france
Dreamcrusher is an artist who I think is better experienced live, if possible, but I always liked this video
edit: hadn’t seen this one before, but it does capture the live aspect a bit more
im a big fan of devi mccallion and her various projects (black dresses w/ ada rook, anarchy 99 w/ so drove, girls rituals, mom, cats millionaire)
it’s not really my place to talk about Agriculture or Liturgy, i haven’t listened deeply enough to either, but they’re on the list right?
i DID get super into Victory Over the Sun for a bit there. i guess i love prog metal when it’s a bit blackened and discordant
i feel it would be rude to talk about transgender heavy music and not mention noted doom WAD enthusiast Uboa. i love the last track on this one but it probably works best with the buildup of the rest of the album
some mates have started a classical Aussie post-punk band pretty recently too and they sound great
one of them is a jungle producer! works on a polyend i believe. i don’t know enough about jungle but it’s good stuff
I have listened to NDAD since I was 16 and somehow never learned she was trans lol (I am generally not the type of person to look anything up about musicians I like)
She’s fuckin great
I was hyped to find out about a transmasc musician, since they seem to be relatively uncommon? Really hoping this guy puts out a full album (besides the one I won’t link under his deadname) sometime.
there ARE transmasc musicians they just mostly sound exactly like this. my partner just asked “is this cavetown?” when i put this on
I mean there’s a lot of discordant noise music about transgender suffering from transfem musicians and I don’t think that’s a problem? It’s just…a true thing.
The biggest difference is I know people will share all of those with me. That really hasn’t been the case with music from transmasc folks in folks in my experience.
I concede as usual it could be I’m in a bubble, but my bubble doesn’t get a lot of transmasc produced music in it.
