Non-Amazon e-ink device is >>>>> more interesting than large iOS device. I did a year of school with 2016 iPad Pro w/ keyboard case and pencil and it just made me want a MacBook.
If you’re an artist this is obviously different but all I want to do is annotate PDFs.
I look forward to using Procreate but never learning how it actually works
Earlier today I realized I was hand drawing pixel text for the billionth time when I could probably use the internet to see if it’s possible to fix my font rendering issues in both Aseprite and Clip Studio
But then I didn’t do that, I kept drawing the letters, I am so glad I don’t have a child, they would never stop roasting me for all these horrible habits I’ve accumulated
I have an iPad 2 that is now a full decade old which I originally bought for gaming (?) and is still very useful for reading comics and as an additional monitor that can receive iMessages while at a windows machine, which is 2/3 of what I would use a new iPad for.
well this thing is kinda fun to play with but it is one of those defective imacs with either a bad logic board or some other blatant defect. it shuts itself off if you start playing most games (not all games…? anything with 3D seems to kill it rapidly, with some exceptions? for some reason Bone by Telltale Games seemed to be stable for a few minutes despite being 3D).
tried pegging all the fans at max RPM with macsfancontrol, but no dice, Oolite (an extremely non-intense 3D game, clone of the old BBC Micro spaceflight/trader sim Elite) and XMoto (open-source 2D motorbike platformer) both caused the iMac to nope the fuck out. i’ll be redoing the thermal paste at some point if i can be bothered to open this thing up after all, but i’m not hopeful this will make any difference… this model is allegedly exquisitely scuffed and there’s probably very little i can do about it RIP
oh well maybe i can still use it for some non-graphical things, it has seemed stable otherwise
new approach - gonna move the integrated graphics .kext out of the extensions folder and see if i can get it to just ignore that thing entirely. it might actually survive that way…
This pseudo loc is a crime against languages but it also presumably exists to make sure that no crimes against language actually make it to a real localization so I’m unable to decide whether it’s evil or not
