Most if not all? TVs let you turn off that motion interpolation crap. If you’re looking for something cheap, maybe go with TCL or one of the cheaper Acer monitors. If you were local, I’d be willing to sell you my ET430k for stupidly cheap.
I feel like a just saw a spate of “TCL TV’s have Chinese Back Doors in them!?!?” articles but I dunno if that’s just scaremongering or what
the simple solution to “my TV is spying on me?!” (non-Chinese manufacturers have done this too) is to just not use the smart TV functionality
TV can’t send your info if you don’t willingly surrender it
Yeah. Even this new Samsung I got just got a firmware update via USB stick. It will never see the internet.
Colors look really nice and vivid on this QLED, but all in all it just reminds me that my 10 year old DLP kicks fucking ass.
NSA is getting everything might as well even it up and make sure China is getting it too
I looked up how to enable the developer mode on my tv so I could turn off all the smart features, motion smoothing, menu animation, etc. stuff at the system level.
Highly recommend turning on developer mode on Android phone in order to set all animation speed multipliers to zero as well
yeah this shit is a pretty nice feature of android over ios. I have an ipad and those slow ass animations really bother me if I’ve been using my phone
reduce motion i think it’s called in accessibility options will turn most of them off
I spent too much time this holiday weekend trying to find a smaller monitor that can handle my PC, work laptop, and Switch’s video and audio as well as my 32" Panasonic IPS from 2009 currently does. I like having several inputs and decent speakers, and I definitely don’t hate FHD. I understand now that this is wrong.
ordered a different PSU to test and see if the frankly upsetting coil whine (MOSFET whine?) from my GPU when the framerate cracks 120 is down to power delivery
all ears for tips
I love that the consensus best OEM is named Super Flower and their logo is a butterfly
im hoping the gold 550w corsair thing i have is going to cope with a 3070 if/when they ever become generally available
my ps4 has really bad coil whine
another time I’m glad to have bad hearing
Hey it turns out there are plenty of 24" 1080p 75/60hz monitors that could probably work for my use case, assuming they produce decent enough sound from their 3.5mm audio out jacks. I was just looking in the wrong (enthusiast) places.
I dumped this very power supply into my computer 3 days ago and it hasn’t exploded yet, so it’s got that going for it.
hmm
I just checked and my current Corsair PSU is eight years old. I may be asking too much of it now that I’ve lucked into used flagship parts. Good length of service, though! It originally powered a 3350p and a 7870.
New PSU didn’t eliminate the whine entirely but it’s now barely audible outside the case and inaudible with (open back) headphones on.
well, I’ve heard one confirmed M1 Mac gotcha – apparently running Dropbox in emulation mode makes it basically unusable, which isn’t too unexpected; Rosetta 1 didn’t have to support nearly as many background services.
I wonder if gsuite/onedrive/etc. work? If they do I imagine Dropbox are intensely motivated to ship a native version.
I perceive Dropbox’s popularity declining because every IT dept wants people to use the storage bundled with their enterprise software but maybe I’m wrong.
