the 70 and 80 have ITX friendly PCBs, it’s just a matter of AIBs (Zotac) making a cooling solution that can keep up in that form factor

well, seems like it’s not just me, comments on FFox page are a string of 1-star reviews and it is interesting to read what they have broken that i didn’t see yet, since i locked updates on devices where this update wasn’t auto-pushed.

i never had the reason to, but is there a resource of how to downgrade to former versions of apks afterwards? or is the default answer ‘opera’ now.

j/k reply EDGE is fine too, i’ve tried that and it works better than FF atm, the irony is not lost on me.

I’ve got a Mac mini that needs more RAM (came with 8GB). Used for Logic, Final Cut, spreadsheet/data work, and The Sims 4 while Discording/browsing.

Should I get:

  • 2x 8GB for $65
  • 2x 16GB for $114

I don’t think you can make great use of 32GB in that machine unless you are going real hard on the audio production

still, for $50…

And I am not! Thanks, it was just cheap enough to be a question.

Damn your stealth edit! Luckily I placed the order before you planted the seed. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d tried these drivers for a Mac touchpad on Win10 “precision” drivers last year when they were rough and unsigned, but now they support the Magic Trackpad 2 over USB and even come signed!

I’m just hoping for a cheap 20*0 to become available to replace the 1060 in our ITX machine. We might start hitting CPU limits then, though (I think we’re rocking an i5 from 2017?), which means a new motherboard, which is maybe just as well because the current one sucks… ah, the ongoing struggle :woman_shrugging:t2:

I’m sure I’ve boasted about this to your partner for absolutely no reason in the past, but I am still very happily using a blown-to-shit 8 year old 3570K in an overclock ITX sweatbox with my Nvidia-provided Titan XP, and the CPU still almost never bottlenecks the GPU in practice.

(also unless you’re using TSX heavily for RPCS3 or something, a heavily overclocked 3570K/3770K basically performs comparably to a stock Intel i5/i7 up through the 7xxx series before they went to 6+ cores unless you’re in a thermally constrained environment)

I also tried to make her get rid of that MSI motherboard!!!

but yeah I’m overdue, at this point I think I’m gonna hold out for DDR5 because the GPU is still manifestly fine, but seeing RTX and NVMe get so much better this year than the past couple years that I ignored them is definitely started to look attractive.

also if I wait until 2023/2024, tsmc 3nm is probably going to be the last viable shrink on par with gains from 28 -> 16 -> 7

What did nvme do this year?

well Samsung is putting out PCIE 4.0 drives so we’re getting the kind of IO performance that maybe a few thousand people worldwide actually need for a few hundred bucks

i kinda fancy upgrading but on the other hand the only upcoming games i’m really interested in are yakuza 7 and smt3hd/5, oops

probably the wrong thread, but is there a free way to upgrade the Windows 7 part of a dual boot linux machine to Windows 10 without a Windows 7 license key, and also without everything going to shit?

pretty sure you can still use keys from older versions to upgrade to Windows. is the problem the provenance of the key or that it’s not written down? something like ProduKey can reveal it if the latter.

you 100% can still use 7 keys to upgrade to 10 and if the install is already registered, you should be safe to do an upgrade install and it just works

now, if you mean you went Windows Loader on 7, that apparently works? I don’t know about other people but the system I had on 7 with Loader upgraded to 10 and was seen as activated and only broke after I did some drive swapping between computers to diagnose an issue

I wanted to turn off the lime green GEFORCE RTX logo on the side of the card but apparently the only two ways to do this on a Founders Edition 2080 Ti are to a) physically cut power off or b) flash an EVGA BIOS and use their software

just lmao

Looks like I can just plug the pins? Thanks!

I mean unfortunately this machine is plugged into a 4K television, so I do initially try to run at native res if possible. Works okay with games from ~2016 and back, less so on current stuff. Kind of a fool’s errand! So maybe it’s just as well Epic Games Store keeps having timed exclusives I can’t purchase with my dirty foreign (when compared to my IP address) credit card. Then I forget the game exists! Perfect!

Thankfully we already got a speedy NVME SSD in the system and I’m quite pleased with the speeds. Took some doing though as the first one I got had a heatsink which made it not fit in the case lmao
