Tom's Hardware of Finland

does anyone know if chredge still hardware decodes encrypted video streams, chromiums and firefoxes have never done that and it’s the only thing I use edge/safari for

Why the hell is my laptop idling at 68% memory usage (of 8Gbs, Windows 10)

that’s not very much and idle memory usage doesn’t matter?

Yeah, building off of what Felix said, use Task Manager to see how much of that usage is cache.

I don’t know shit about browsers or programming or ram usage or anything else, but I’m consistently floored by how much chrome sucks down. like, I got 6 tabs open with text and an adblocker, how is that 1.5gb of ram. I’m sure it is designed to use as much as the computer can reasonably give it to keep it snappy, but how is there even 1.5gb of shit in there to store

dunno if this is best here or worst images

they should update the DSM with people on tech site comment sections going out of their way to call hdds “spinning rust” as an indication of psychopathy

The X-onward UI makes good on iOS 7 five years later even if it’s stealing the Palm Pre card metaphor.

The iPad is an unmitigated disaster.

yeah it’s remarkable how much having super fluid and quick gesture multitasking solved almost all their outstanding UX annoyances

In hindsight tapping the home button in Morse code for three (?) different things is bizarre, like this tim and Eric bit

something like 4 quotes from that skit are embedded in my life

I opened up my laptop to put RAM in there saw it had a SSD M2 slot and with an electronics store 3 minutes walk away got a SSD and slammed it in here.

Now what do I do with this inpluse stupid idea? This is a thing you do right? a thing you do with computers? put in the SSD and then ???

reinstall or transfer windows to the SSD, move all your basic programs (web browser, media players, text editors, whatever else you use) over to it, and change your boot priority in the bios to make sure your computer is running off of the SSD. then you can transfer whatever else you want over. media files and documents and all that shit don’t need to be on the SSD. games benefit, particularly big 3D games.

to make it less of a hassle, you can probably fresh install windows on the SSD, then make sure your windows settings are being synced on your current drive, boot from the SSD and log in with your current profile. most shit should carry over without any headaches.

If the M2 SSD is faster than your current boot drive, migrate your operating system over to the new drive and then enjoy booting really fast. If you have it on a platter drive lol welcome to the future.

is chredge any good now it’s out of beta then

I still just want to know if I’ll lose widevine hwdec when I upgrade, I can’t really see it being that much more compelling than another chromium

although given that opera is like doing payday loans now you never know
