I’m already decided to roll with hugo for my site authoring tool. Is github pages a good place to put a comic strip and/or some audio stuff? I was under the impression it was more of for the front face of projects on git?

I just use Namecheap’s cheapest option and it’s fine. It was easy enough to find a coupon last time I renewed, too. (When it says ‘host three websites’ it means separate domains, you can have as many subdomains as you want)

i use google drive to host everything because i’m not famous enough to need to worry about bandwidth and i didn’t feel like i needed a clean url/domain in order to share things (including webpages) with people. your needs may be completely different obviously; just make sure that the most obvious free choices aren’t what you’re looking for before going all in

I’ve been happy with Stable Host these past couple years.

I don’t know if this is still rolling, but they had a pretty sweet coupon available when I signed up: 50%, for the lifetime of the account. Not just a first year promotion.

Use GitHub pages for whatever, they don’t care. There’s instructions for setting a CNAME file, so you can use a personal domain and still serve it from their infrastructure.

They’re down sometimes (a few minutes every 2-3 months), so if availability is critical you should pay money. I’d host on S3, once I add that to my crappy static site publishing tool.

It is! I’ve actually upgraded it to the newest version recently and changed the plugins around so they actually work. Was vaguely planning on starting some sort of Minecraft night here whenever I actually have time to do anything, haha.
