more like intentionally right, am i wrong
boo
Still bought it though. 7.2 or whatever surround sound support is cool. I adore the music and atmosphere in this game. I wish Matsuno made more games. Uhhh, chaining seems easier for some reason, that is most likely just me.
Wait, whatās wrong with a turbo button? I wish that were a feature in all JRPGs.
Oh, okay. Well, this HD release (and maybe the ZIJS ver?) has a mode that restricts leveling up, which is one sort of an approximation of a hard mode, although I have no idea how that works out.
Iām really enjoying this game(again). I sunk about 70 hours into the original release on a fat PS3 in a 90+ degree room in the summer of 2008. I canāt wait for it to open up more and I can do all the hunts.
I wish they had gotten rid of the little animation your characters do after a battle. Vaan for example sheaths his sword and the movement of your character pauses for a second. Itās enough to be annoying if youāre a psychotic person like me.
This is a good article. Nicoel Frenti as Fraan is one of my favorite performances in the game next to Gideon Emery doing Balthier.
ok what idiot decided that some spells can only be found in treasure chests now
apparently i missed the chest for blind, but itās on the giza plains, and now i have to wait for a dumb hidden timer to allow me to get it again
does unlocking quickenings double your mp bar now that theyāre not tied to it?
sh1t sounds different, should I be playinā? (non-dual-booting linux)
I.e. can I be playin ?
No, quickenings donāt double MP anymore
Since I already finished the game 10 years ago I decided to try a challenge to force me to use the lesser known abilities in the game: Iām only using time battlemages. Everybody is a time battlemage and only a time battlemage.
This kind of run is often associated with FF5/ Tactics, and could have been associated with 12, but I donāt think it will: characters in 12 donāt change clothes with class changes, so a huge part of the appeal is lost. Thereās something satisfying about beating dragons with a team of people all wearing the same silly time robes thatās unfortunately lost here.
Anyway so far the team is still really strong and Iām breezing through the game + hunts
My new favourite spell is Immobilize, for being so useless in a normal game yet so wonderful here. I can immobilize an enemy and then shoot him at range with crossbows, + cast Reflect if they want to play the long range game.
It fees like FF12 is even more full of interesting cool skills no one uses than the usual FF
Yeah so far the only class I am finding doesnāt really have much to offer is the Machinist, though I havenāt messed with them much yet (sorry, balthier, but Monk you is way more useful). I have been doing the run with every job assigned to someone so far, and it is working out pretty well, though I definitely paired up the wrong jobs a few times, but oh well. The resulting game is still pretty amusing.
Yeah, I gotta go back and get some of those, which is annoying as hell. Special shout-out to warn people not to miss Haste, which is in the back corner of Franās village and easily missable, but is a damn awesome spell to have just getting thrown around. Also, turn your battle speed up in the Config menus.
yeah, there are tons of cool abilities in this game that I didnāt use at first because I assumed, like most other FF games, none of the status de-buffs would work on any enemy where it would actually be useful. Instead, lots of stuff works on bosses, even blind and silence, stuff that you would never think to try! The breaker technicks are all very useful too, apparently in IZJS they even work on Yiazmat.
Yup, blind doesnāt suck out loud for instance. A lot of bosses are not immune to all status effects as well so everything actually seems useful. I want to say there is a fight in the game where you need to poison the boss because normal attacks do jack.
Oil is also one of the coolest status effects in a rpg.
The debuffs are also very vital in this game as in later areas you will come out of battles with normal mobs with tons of status ailments on your party.
Wait, really? Only in chests?
Definitive version status: revoked
i actually like the spells being in chests, too
chests with spells always appear and always contain the spell, if that helps any
I canāt believe they ripped off mystic quest like that
Put me down as also really enjoying this.
Iām about to get Ashe and am having a blast flying through the beginning part of the game. The story setup and the world building are great. The bestiary is great. The voice acting is great. I even like the job system.
I made Vaan a spear wielder, Basch a knight, Balthier a machinist, Fraan an archer, Penelo a time battlemage and I havenāt decided what Asheās first job will be. Maybe a white mage? I donāt know if Iāll actually need one this early on though. Iām not having trouble with any of the enemies or bosses yet, outside of some higher level flying enemies in giza plains who ruined my shit the other night.
So what is the deal with machinists because right now Balthier sucks and I donāt like it.
yeah i think guns are really good sometimes because they ignore defense or something?
something like that
i donāt know, yeah, my machinist/x is
my goofiest guy right now for sure
