The fourth level pack for R-Type Final 2 was supposed to come out on the 15th but it’s been delayed because Sony and Nintendo are requiring them to modify a suggestive boss design from R-Type 2.

it’s only being modified in the us on ps4 and us and europe on switch, apparently.
also, “suggestive” is a generous way of putting it: the boss is a big glowing purple dick

Still plugging away at Gradius V and I’m actually not bad at stage 5 (not that I can get there without dying a ton, thank goodness for practice mode) but the stage 5 boss is just a disaster for me. I think I can begin to grasp a basic strategy for it but it’s still rough as hell to actually implement and worst of all, not that particularly fun.

I have never been able to finish Gradius V. The rock stage always drains too many lives, particularly the boss. I like the music in that stage, though.
I mean, at some point I will have unlimited credits and then the game will be finished, the question is how far I will get into the game before that happens.

I see @ being able to buy individual titles on everything except PS4, the one I can buy it for.

Rolling Gunner is ok. A side scrolling game where your ‘bit’ rotates in reverse of how you move your plane. I.e. to get it to shoot forward you move straight back.
It’s clever, but more novel than engaging.
When you add on the DLC though, the big switch is that you get to control the bit with the other joystick. It’s absolutely wonderful, and if you’re going to dive in, I’d recommend going that route.

Reached stage 6 in Gradius V, which means that I could then practice it in stage select mode. I don’t think I died once in the first half of it; I have to guestimate as they stop adding a 1 to your score for each continue at 9 but I’d say I ended up with 35-40 deaths. People wonder why I hate boss rushes so much, I wonder how other don’t. I legit wonder how far I could get in Progear, a game I emulated a couple of times ages ago, with 40 lives.

Sure it’s tat but we’ve come a long way from the early logistical nightmare of working out how to import region free ports of the sequel.
