Hope y’all like getting killed by a stray bullet when the boss approaching card covers up the whole screen.
The game is visually suffocating.
Good news. They are adding new paths in the existing R-Type Final 2 stages and also adding a second set of DLC stages after the first seven. (The last three of the first set come out this week, I think.) No idea what that R-Type Final 3 part is about.

Ghost Blade HD: C+
Fast Striker: C
Cotton: C because of the boss display thing
Xenocrisis: A
Nex Machina: B
Sisters Royale: B for emBarasing
ESPRaDe Psi: A+
I can’t play twin stick shooters without hurting so this genre is almost closed off to me. Should try Xenocrisis digital only.
That we are getting a Cotton and a Deathsmiles collection this year is great.

The stage X6.0 boss in R-Type Final 2 is tough (the stage from R-Type 2). I tried it for an hour or so the other night and about two hours tonight, and I haven’t managed to beat it even on “Practice” difficulty.
But I have to beat it so I can see what they did with the first stage from the first game.
If you’re just playing to play is there any reason not to play on practice or kids?
I think you get less material for unlocking ships, but otherwise, not really. Just play whatever feels good.
There are rankings (that don’t seem to do anything outside trophies) based on stages completed on higher difficulties.
But I personally play on the lower difficulties most of the time.
It’s definitely worth playing the first stage through on the highest difficulty at least once, and I’ve been able to consistently beat the third stage from the original R-Type on the highest difficulty when I want to farm resources. But I’m all out of ships to unlock until they add more.
I can’t imagine trying to beat this particular boss on the higher difficulties, since I can’t even beat it on the easiest setting. But I secretly like that it’s so punishing and I think I will eventually get it.
