just bad decisions all around, see the garbage rehashed quick bux halloween event that they shat out to milk people with lootbox extravaganza.
also this game is tom clancy in very much name only, it’s just an arcade shooter with some simple special police porn. there’s no narrative and the whole thing is simply explained as bunch of special police peeps across the world taking part of some training simulator.
even the chinese siege community believes this to be an absolutely garbage move btw.
maybe, the dialectics here are… complicated. but i guess it’s safe to say that the people who make rainbow 6 are promoting american imperialism about as successfully as the chinese censors are ensuring the people are free from the influence of licentious cults and feudal superstitions
i dunno if that is good or bad, but you can be sure that this is generating a lot of profit for investors so who am i to judge
Battle Genesis is the kind of name given to an arcade game with a novel control gimmick that bombs on release.
Sega AM2 released their arcade action MOBA Soul Reverse at the beginning of the year but I don’t know how that has done. It looked like the kind of thing that would get steady updates to its gacha so I didn’t expect them to be moving away from that any time soon unless it did real bad.
I’m friends with a bunch of Sega arcade employees and they haven’t said one word about it since it released, which has not been the case for practically every other Sega game released in recent history? Don’t recall seeing anyone play it at the Yokohama R1 when I was there regularly this summer either.
So how about that Diablo mobile game? I enjoyed the shitstorm but I’ll try it out if it’s free to play. I’ll probably delete it after a day but I’ll try it
I’d understand the diablo reaction if it’d been over a decade since Blizzard even acknowledged the EXISTENCE of Diablo and then suddenly dumped out a vaguely dungeon-themed arena brawler that had nothing to do with Diablo but slapped the name on it anyway.
yeah I mean I don’t disagree but I think you’ve correctly identified why this isn’t actually a very useful or interesting take, because 2 is by and large so likable that it’s not enough to say that it’s bad or whatever
if anything I think it’s more interesting to talk about exactly why 2 was so harmful to game design trends, and how it was a lot of people who didn’t play CRPGs’ first exposure to that kind of game (myself included?), etc.
Are diablo fans actually proud of its “complexity”? I thought it was always just about a satisfying gameplay loop and that’s what the fans like it for. Obviously for complexity there’s only PoE…
I wouldn’t have figured, but waking up to the fact that it is basically a mobile game before mobile games existed has apparently been very stressful, so now I don’t know
