Phantasy star III is depressing for a lot of reasons. My friends had Phantasy star 2 and 4 and I bought 3 to play over a summer and report back. Took forever for me to admit I was not having fun.

The Persona 2 school theme specifically reminded me of the melancholic last few days before summer break at the end of the school year, when the air is hot, the atmosphere is very relaxed, people are talking about their summer vacations and you realize you might never see your crush again but it’s OK

But it doesn’t work at all with the Japanese school year (I discovered that by playing Persona 3)

Shit does this have clips from the movie where Don Knotts accidentally becomes a pornographer

I need to finally watch that

This is also karaoke worthy

This was kinda the soundtrack to some of the loneliest times of my life.

I always found this such a depressing, inappropriate tune for 7pm. Maybe more suited to like 3am or something

Always found this song to be so soulful and melancholy, especially when it’s roaring on a real GB speaker

First, I have to post the Mega Man X password theme again.

The DKC2 soundtrack always makes me think of this:

As a young teenager I got peak end of summer vibes from Mario circa '96.

Finally, this bit in the orchestrated Undertale concert is like when the Fargo True Detective pieces it all together a scene too late.
