a game whos ambitions hit the limitations of its host hardware like a brick wall
oh god I tried to play this game twice, and I can’t get past the gameplay which is staring at a radar screen the entire time. The plot and characters are really interesting though. and the art. but the gameplay??? sheeshhh
exactly! such a waste, to pair all that great everything else with such a garbage game
this and Biomotor Unitron are like inpenatrable for me. They’re so weird and dense, but I don’t really have time for an 80 hour Neo Geo Color JRPG
Card Fighters Clash would be my first rec for a NGPC rpg. Faselei! is perennially on my to-play list
new post time~! an ancient fighting game that even had a sequel, but seems to have made no cultural impact
iirc, the fantranslated sequel has a more interesting plot and definitely has much better graphics, both of which might make it more palatable to a 2024 audience. they’re both very “turn of the century japan” in their mood
Yeah and I think the mechanics are a bit more complicated (or seem so at first blush). The second game doesn’t have you walking around à la pokemon, so people should weigh that into consideration.
look at these msx games
another opportunity to complain about how badly this show’s merchandising was handled in the anglosphere
risk your life in the arena for one dollar
i was excited for this game, and i was right to be
one of those japan-exclusive games based on a western property
this one feels like they had part of an idea for a game, but failed to come up with a way for it to actually be a game
i had a lot of fun playing this, and the movie’s blu ray has gone up a few places on my shopping list as a result lol
helicopters, and a slight lack of imagination
two days late, i remember to make this post public. appropriate, since it’s about a game that never got released at all?
an almost-good amiga game! almost.
an interesting game with a ton of ideas!
this should have been a classic, but ruined it with an ill-guided design decision
