I haven’t played any of these, but the internet loves Elden Ring, so that’s going to win. Black Myth: Wukong will get runner-up because it looks the most Gamer Bro of the lot and traditionally that would win but the internet still hasn’t gotten over playing through iteration after iteration of Demon’s Souls. Astro Bot and Balatro are just there so they can go, “Hey, look, we also got some indie-looking shit, so we’re not completely bought!” and have absolutely zero chance.
The only way to win at Gaming is to be a 2D woman or a 3D man…

GOTY and “best direction” are the exact same noms, so I feel confidant saying Wukong will take one and Erdtree will take the other.
I think the fact that there’s not a single mobile game in the “best score” category is proof that the nomination process for the gameys is completely nonfunctional.

Erdtree’s inclusion is already a big “but it’s not a game” kerfuffle so let me put mortal lock odds on Black Myth: Wukong for its stand against feminist propaganda. Tell me this ain’t the year for that, I dare you.
i shant be watching any of this as i am still holding strong to the pledge but i will bet on Balatro winning as its the perfcet half-attention / fiscally successful / low-commitment game for geoffs coterie of insiders to laud. erdtree wont get it because only ppl who like games go back to old games & everything else other than may b astrobot is simply too specific
i’m not getting roped into watching this shit live again, i did it a couple years ago, had to stay up until the dead middle of the night and saw more commercials in a couple hours than i usually do in a year, and all of the announcements were incredibly boring. i’m ok with just browsing the cliffsnotes the morning after, just like any tech press conference
