Racing games where the majority of racers are on foot
Turbo Toons
This is a bit of a technicality as it’s a game where player’s race through a side-scrolling platformer at the same time, but don’t face each other directly.
doesn’t every Track&Field from the 1990ies (with a running 100/200/400/1k mode) qualify for this?
and my brain wants to be tricked into listing some Jump’n’Runs here, which i won’t do/because they don’t fit, really.
Track and Field games came to mind to me too, but I decided not to include them because 1) there are too many and b) they tend to be boring and c) they tend to be just one or two events in a collection of other events, and I was trying to focus on games built entirely around racing/running
Would be happy to see notable examples, though!
Not sure what it’s called in every region but Konami did some terrible Boot Camp game where you play as a military recruit running obstacle courses. And if you were good enough at the running events, you got to die at war.

Rayman M/Rayman Arena a weird multiplayer game spunoff from Rayman 2 and its engine of all things that has a whole extensive series of footraces

Speaking of Popeye, I watched all three Popeye horror movies on Tubi this past Halloween.
They’re all really bad! But bad in different ways, at least.

Pokemon Race Mini seems inspired by the Monster Racers series, which got a somewhat uncommon US DS release.
